Once perspective.

It is well written and Fr. Manuel seems to have a solid knowledge of both spirituality and sexuality.

Amazing book very practical

Fr. Manuel's lived experience as a Catholic priest, and his background as a Clinical Psychologist, give this book a depth and authenticity that is refreshingly honest and open for such a difficult topic. It helps that he illustrates his points with concrete stories from priests and religious men and women who have also lived, and are living, this reality. This book also has much to say to those of us who are not celibate about love, sexuality and commitment. I believe anyone can benefit from its wisdom about human relationships in general, as well as what it says about our own intimate committed relationships. Well written and worth reading!

This is my favorite poetry-writing book. I've read it many times and am always learning from one or another of the twenty lessons. The first lesson is "Found & Headline Poems," and for years I've read the lesson but always thought, "I'll never write one of those." But the other day I did: it just came to me, perhaps from the environment I was in, perhaps from absorbing the lessons and examples in this book. The same is true of other chapters: Pantoums," for example. I never thought I'd write one, but one day, inspired by maybe my third reading of this book, I did.The lessons and especially the examples in this book are good for beginning and intermediate poets, though even advanced poets can learn or have their knowledge refreshed by reading the very sane, very straight-forward advice. Highly Recommended!

I hope this book isn't going out of print. It's a gift to be able to take lessons from a master poet like William Stafford, especially now that he has passed away. I don't know of any other poetry technique book that allows a student to really get their feet wet in language. This is a real treat in the exploration and discovery of language becoming poetry. You will get marvelous results working through these 20 exercises.

If you are an absolute beginner to poetry writing, this is a great book to have. If you do the exercises, you will soon be writing something that resembles poetry.

This book is a wonderful mix of fresh and unusual activities and guiding interludes by the authors. The book is not only a great way to get you creative juices lowing, but it is an inspiring read. Many of my students enjoy the interludes between activities as much as the activities themselves.I would encourage any teacher to make this a part of your poetry toolbox.

This is a cookbook-like approach to the teaching of poetic form. Each chapter presents a different form, a step-by-step guide to implementing a lesson with students (which is clear enough, I've found, to leave for a substitute lesson plan!), and selected examples of successful types. A great work for junior and senior high school general-level classes.

Each and every exercise in this book is useful for writers of any kind. It is immensely valuable for writers to be able to work in any genre, and even if one is sticking strictly to fiction, there are great writing tips and techniques in this book--I recommend it for anyone and everyone!

Judith Tankard's 'Beatrix Farrand, PRIVATE GARDENS, PUBLIC LANDSCAPES' is beautifully researched and elegantly written using many original sources quoted directly. A standout feature is the extensive use of Farrand's landscape drawings and architectural details which communicate far more detail than the photographs alone could ever do. The use of many historic images of Farrand's projects is welcome alongside contemporary views presumably shot for the book.There is a nice layering of landscape design plus plenty of horticultural detail, in addition to the social history of the cultural milieu Farrand operated in - wealthy, white, anglocentric. Judith Tankard's book sets a high standard as a biography and monograph, and Monacelli Press as usual produce a lavish product.It's always possible to have too much of a good thing, and by the end I did feel as if I had eaten a few too many soft-center, after dinner chocolates, and found myself longing for the cool restraint of the Modern Movement!

Sorry, but having exhausted the really hard puzzles to be found in books like The Fiercely Ferocious Puzzle book and its ilk, these are rather tame and simple by comparison. Love Will Shortz but these are not very challenging.

My husband loves these books, he says they are just the right difficulty. He doesn't like puzzles with themes and these don't have that. Also the print is not too small, the squares are not too small, the spiral binding allows the book to lay flat and the pages are easy to tear out if you want to. He has not run into any duplicate puzzles so far either. I'll continue to buy them for him whenever a new one comes out

I like this collection because it is printed in a spiral-bound book and the print is larger than some NYT collections I’ve purchased in the past. I wish they were all Saturday puzzles, though; some seem quite a bit easier than others. Working puzzles is my favorite “sleeping pill.” No prescription needed.

I bought my mother one of the “ferocious” books because she loves difficult crosswords. She said they’re dang near impossible. These are challenging but not “ferocious.” I don’t personally do crosswords so I only have her word to go by. LOL. But I took this to mean these make her think in a good way - the others make her frustrated.

Difficult but very doable. Very much enjoyed the challenge.

My husband is an avid crossword puzzler. He found this one quite challenging but none were so bad they frustrated him. He graded it "PERFECT"!

The crossword puzzles are demanding, at least for me. Enjoying the challenges.

This book was given to our 99 year old Grandmother. The puzzles keep her going strong.
