I appreciate the overall great condition of the book, as it is expected that the pages lost a touch of whiteness over the years. But I was a little disappointed that the corners were slightly crushed and the rear cover also creased. Being that it was packed in bubble wrap instead of a box, this may have contributed to the deformed corners and crease. But realistically, it could also have been squeezed in a box for 35 years so all things considered, a great find for a great book.Just like I remembered it the first time I bought it, an authoritative guideline to the types of indoor plants you can raise, based on what kind of light you have in your house or apartment. Fundamental for beginners and a good refresher for those that have been in the indoor green thumb thing for years.

This is the book that indoor plant lovers and enthusiasts need. I've purchased 3 other indoor plant books, none live up to this one (even being outdated)

I love indoor plants and this book is the best "how to" resource for care and propagating tricks (per plant type) I have ever found. Even with the internet at my fingers, I still find the best care tips in this one reference book from 1981. I only use the internet to find alternate names for the plants, to help me locate them in the book.

I have been a houseplant lover for years but never found books that had all the info I wanted until I went to school for landscape and horticulture.We used this book as our text in interior design class. I have been recommending it ever since.It is the most comprehensive house plant book I have ever seen...and as a student of landscape and horticulture for 2 years, and a life time of raising plants, I have seen a LOT of houseplant books! Get a copy of it, you won't be disappointed...and at the price it is, it is a steal! I paid a LOT more for it 10 years ago...I think around $30.Enjoy....

Lots of information, however expected full colours images, most of the pictures were sketches.

I bought this on the recommendation of master gardeners and I'm glad I did. It's well illustrated and is a good, basic how-to book on caring for houseplants. It's a good resource for figuring out what's going on with different varieties. Dated, but so what, gardening and care for living plants hasn't changed.

I had one of these books years ago but got rid of it because I figured I could use the internet for any houseplant questions. Big mistake! I missed it so much I just bought another ine.

I originally purchased this book for a business law class I took, but the information I learned from it helped me from preventing my employer at the time to get one over on me. Everybody should know the basics of business law, especially contract law, and this book provides that kind of valuable information in a way easy to retain.1. It's literally saved me from being screwed out of over $1000 dollars.2. It's slightly bigger than the average sized mouse-pad, so you can use it as a mouse-pad stand while surfing the internet from your couch.A saving grace from scumbag businessmen and a convenient mouse-pad stand, it should be in every single house.

Better than Expected!I am an attorney that had to take this class as part of a certificate in Finance. I was tested in areas that I have not studied in years or am not exposed to, e.g. HR, patents and trademarks, etc. Some areas are more detailed for a law student.This is an interesting book with plenty of examples, well organized, and I gave it 4 stars because it is probably more detailed than a general business student will need in the future.

Great quality book, and definitely the best price I could find. I was concerned that this textbook would be very dry and hard to understand, but they do a god job of explaining things to make them understandable, and then gradually building your knowledge of law. While this is not my favorite class subject, this book has prepared me well for my class and helped me earn a better grade.

I got the Kindle version after I already had a hardback version for a Business Law class. The hardback version was fine, but what I found in the Kindle version was that the number of missing passages, typos, and errors was very high.In one situation, one of the cases was actually missing! I was asked to read in class by my instructor, and had to borrow a book after a few minutes of struggling to understand what case he was talking about. I believe that was in chapter 9, but can't remember.In other cases the formatting is rendered useless, and if things are in an ordered numbered list, they are just jumbled together poorly.I just found in Chapter 10, several sentences that were cut off, and mashed together so incomprehensibly that I had to refer back to the paper version. I am sincerely grateful I have the paper version because there is no way I could have answered that take home test question with that passage because it doesn't make sense at all.It is still useful, for the most part, to take to class, but I would not rely on it for tests. The information is just all to often missing, or has typos that render it hard to understand.I'm actually very disappointed in this because I was going to buy all my textbooks in Kindle format if I could next quarter, but now I'm not so sure I should.

This book is great for people who have never taken any business law courses. This book is very informative and it helped me learn a lot about US business policies and legal issues. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to get knowledgeable about the law.

Great textbook, satisfied with purchase. I got this book for my Business Law college course. Thick textbook, 400+ pages. Content is solid and should go well with Business Law courses. It comes with many court cases and sample follow-up questions (answers in back) which are very helpful. The book also has a great index and separate legal definitions sections, which were great as well. Very satisfied with purchase.

I loved this book too. Usually companion books to the original story, in this case The Wednesday Wars, are not as good or even horrible. Also a National Book Finalist like the original, this book stood on its own as a great novel. There is less emphasis on literature but Jane Eyre is brought into the story as well as art/drawing, science and geography. It is set in the 1968-1969 in the era of the Vietnam War and the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. The main character Doug, moves with his very poor family from NYC to a small town so his drunk abusive father can find work. Starting out as an outcast due to his family's financial situation and his brother and father's criminal reputation, Doug is taken under the wing of a few citizens of Maryville like the town librarian, his science teacher, and the grocer's daughter who see him as his own person, a good person with talents and intelligence that no one has tried to nurture and grow until now. They help him get through the abuse and neglect he has to endure as well the town suspicion of his family for the store robberies occurring around town and his older brother coming home from the war with life-changing physical and mental injuries. This was also written as a children's book but as an adult I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am 40+ and enjoy a broad spectrum of genres in literature. I find however, that when I want a good fiction book to escape with, many adult books seem to lack a certain essence of insight and enrichment that I do find in many stories written for teens.I am amazed at Gary Schmidt's talent to create very different stories to present a variety of life's hardships candidly, without any sugar coating, and yet finds a way to show the reader some sweetness and hope through life's challenges. I loved Wednesday Wars and consider it one of my favorite books in a list of my top ten or so. This has definitely been added to that list! I found it to be cathartic, as someone who grew up with an unstable and abusive parent.I cannot recommend Schmidt's Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy enough either, totally different type of story again, but your life will be better for reading it.Also if you find these stories enriching a couple from other authors I recommend are: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - a must!!! Tangerine and a Plague Year by Edward Bloor, and The fault in Our Stars by John Green, I could name a bunch of others.

If you likes The Wednesday Wars you will love Okay for Now. Anybody can read this and enjoy it. It is a book about a kid named Doug who is trying to adjust to a new life in a new town, without any of his friends. You also learn about Doug’s tough home life, he has troubles with his father and his brother. All while he is missing his oldest brother who is out at war. Thankfully there are new people that Doug meets in the new town that expect the best of him. They empower him, and he empowers them. One of my favorite parts of the book is how he relates his life to the art he draws.

“Okay for Now” captured my attention on the first page and I found it hard to put down. It’s a story of a teenage boy struggling to survive in a very dysfunctional family, in a new area where he knows no one, and in a new school. Despite numerous setbacks, he perseveres and makes positive life changes. The story is filled with quirky characters and invaluable lessons about love, life and survival.

I bought this book to read with a book club even though it wasn't a book I would have picked up on my own. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this book is! I loved it and couldn't put it down. I felt like the book presented a difficult time in history and a flawed family with so much hope and honesty. I appreciated that the characters in the book had difficult decisions to make on a daily basis and that the reader got to see the consequences of their poor choices and the good that came when they purposely made good choices. I was worried it would be a bummer to read, but it was so uplifting. I loved it so much I had my husband read it and my 5th grade daughter. They both loved it too. I will definitely be reading other books by this author.

As a former teacher, I found so many similarities between Doug Swieteck and students who -- for various reasons -- fall deep into the cracks of formal education. And then I had to read the "Wednesday Wars" for a Sabbath Reading for Pastors program and made the delightful discovery that there is something substantive between "Little House on the Prairie" and Harry Potter. Several months ago I heard an interview with Gary Schmidt on the car radio. He was so interesting and the things he was saying about his newest book were so intriguing that I ordered "Okay for Now" for my Kindle as soon as I got home. This story seems to be about real kids with real problems. When I was young, no one talked about their parents getting divorced or any other kind of family trouble. We kept everything inside and maybe didn't even let our pastor or our favorite teacher know what was eating at us. But books like this one invite a young person to think about what she's going through, maybe talk about it with a friend, maybe even discuss these things in the classroom. How refreshing! And how healthy! My oldest grandchildren are too old for this group of books now, and my youngest are not quite ready, but Grandma will be waiting to grace their Christmas tree with books that were really written for them.The Rev. Excellent book on the destroyers of the French Navy written by experts.Excellent photographs, diagrams, tables and narrative make this a perfect book for any person interested in WWII, the French Navy of destroyers.

Excellent!!! Only suggestion I have would be to address export orders like Norman Friedman does for British ship types.

Good book on the subject. I have the Battleship, Cruiser and Destroyer books now and I have to say that I have enjoyed all three of them. There is not much in English on the French Navy of the 1920 to 1950 period and these books fill that hole.

This is another great volume in the series of the French Navy from the 1920's to post World War II. This book covers a wealth of information of the unique naval designs of the French Navy at a time when the Naval Powers of the World were marking major changes in design, improvments and operational improvements of their navy's. I have enjoyed all three volumes (Battleships, Cruisers and now the Destroyers) of the Frenck Navy in this Series of the period of Naval advancements and designs. I will be waiting for the next volume in this series on the French Navy and hoping it will cover the French Submarines in this same time period of Naval history and advancments. Bob Hanes

Thorough discussion of the subject with lots of photos. Each chapter covers a given class of destroyers or contre torpilleurs. Text discusses hull design, armament (primary, AA, and anti-submarine), machinery, and so forth. At the end of each chapter there is an evaluation of the overall design with regard to performance issues such as effectiveness of armament, machinery reliability, range,and sometimes a comparison with similar ships in other navies. The various classes are discussed both with regard to technical design and also in regard to the French political and financial situation at the time. The fate of each ship is also discussed.

Wonderful book, matching or even exceeding his earlier books on French battleships and French cruisers. Full of technical information, service histories, and discussions about why the ships were designed as they were. Really superb effort that should be on the bookshelf of anyone interested in World War Two at sea.

This book is outstanding. Physically, it's a large format hardcover with the 296 pages being 11-1/2" tall and 9-1/2" wide. The dust jacket has a nice watercolor on the front and there are 8 more pages of watercolors in the interior. A very attractive page overall.But the writing and drawing of John Jordan are the real attraction here. The book is divided into two parts. Part 1 takes up about two thirds of the book. After an Introduction the chapters each cover a class of French destroyers built between the wars. There are two types of destroyers covered - the large contre-torpilleurs (anti-torpedo boats) and torpilleurs d'escadre (fleet torpedo boats). Each class gets the full treatment section by section - Introduction, Hull and General Characteristics, Ground Tackle and Navigation, Machinery, Main Armament, Anti-Aircraft Weapons, Torpedoes, Anti-Submarine Weapons and Detection Apparatus, Communications, Boats, and Complement. Each chapter finishes with an Evaluation section and Modifications section covering alterations done by the French through to the end of the Vichy regime.Each chapter is supported by a wide range of maps, drawings, tables, and photographs. It is here that Jordan's talents as a draftsman shine. The drawings support the text perfectly. The reader will rarely have to try to picture what the text is describing; there is usually a drawing showing just what is described. The photographs are well selected and captioned as well. Some are "guttered" across the spine but the loss is minimal.There is an interest chapter on paint schemes and markings to close out Part 1.Part 2 is a service history of the ships covered written by co-author Jean Moulin and translated by Jordan. There are four chapters here covering the prewar period, the war until the French collapse and through the Vichy period, the remainder of the war against the Axis, and the postwar period. Again, all is very well supported by Jordan's maps and drawings, tables, and photographs. The book closes with one page of sources and a four page index.This book will be the definitive reference in English just as are Jordan's previous books on French battleships and cruisers. I echo the hopes expressed for more books in the same format. A book on submarines of this period would be very welcome but I'm hoping Jordan turns his attention to earlier periods as well.My only criticism is that the small 600 tonne and 1000 tonne torpedo boats were consigned to a one page appendix. Maybe Jordan can cover them in a Warship article.This book is an outstanding reference. Highly recommended.

First of all, must comment on the vendor from which I purchased this book: heavy tail in Illinois - I was very impressed with the condition of the book (excellent), the packaging (also, excellent) and the timeliness of delivery (faster than I expected) - will look to purchase more from this firm - now, as to the book, I was led to it by my previous reading of "Map of Bones" -since I have a special interest in ancient history and pre-history, I was in great anticipation of learning more about some of the issues with gold portrayed in the book - the book, as sold by heavytail, was in excellent condition - almost like a seldom-read library book - the subject matter as portrayed by the author is everything I hoped for - I'm only a short way into the book but already know it was an excellent purchase - now, to attempt to find more like it

This book will give you insight into long gone history. Why much of it was covered up by world nations of the most powerful thing on earth. The powders of metals. When looking at the stories told and looking at it in terms of metallurgy it all makes total sense. If you have a mind to wonder about the past and what the future holds this is a must read book.However some of it is quite boring on topics I could care less about although I did read through it all because you never know when you might miss something. All in all reading this book will really make you think about the powerful truths that have been hinted at but mostly covered up and kept from the public by the powers that be that have always been at least in the past few thousand years. The good thing is what they did in the past we are doing today with todays tect that will soon be the norm. The end of the world is here as we new it and a new far better world is beginning to come alive to replace it. The new stuff coming out now like the transformation of elements like they crudely did in the past will be known to all in the next few years a billion times more advanced. It’s too big to stop!The Arc was simply an electrical power source used mostly for metallurgical purposes. Where it first came from for there were many, my guess from off planet.

I'm not a fan of the author. He smells too much like a guy who rushes to publish fringe ideas with the hopes of making some money and to claim the ideas as his own as soon as possible. Much of this book ranges from interesting to downright silly. The only thing I find interesting is the strange gold powder that--like other reviewers pointed out--deserves some genuine investigation by more people. Although the author has brought more attention to the powder, it was not his discovery. My problem is that he splatters his name on it too much, giving the impression he is trying too hard to make it his very own discovery.This monoatomic gold is a fascinating subject. We need more people with genuine credentials and integrity to really study this stuff. Do a web search on this stuff and you find quacks with snake oil. It's unfortunate that something with some legitimate potential has been fouled by false prophets and greedy peddlers.

This book turned out to be a revelation to me - it explains so much of History as well as previously obscure Bible stories in an understandable way. It is extremely well researched, and covers ancient history from the time of Moses use of the Ark of the Covenant to the time of King Solomom, to King Herod, to the Knights Templars of the Middle Ages all the way to David Hudson's Modern Day re-discovery of the secrets of monoatomic Gold. I found this book not only informative, but highly enlightening, casting a new light on events described in the Bible. Not only does ancient history look way more exciting than conventional scholars (and churches!) may want you to think, in this book the science behind it is also thoroughly covered and explained. A fascinating read, and I highly recommend it. This should be an important book for times to come - not just for those interested in ancient and Bible History, but also for those looking to the future: it looks like the use of monoatomic elements is the key to fuel cells and the propulsion of the future.

Having read his previous books I was compelled to purchase this one solely on the strenght of the author. I must conlude that I was not disappointed by any means. As the title implies this edition traces the use of monatomic gold known as (Mfzt to the egyptians) by the royal bloodline extending to the ancient sumerian epoch until today. Beautifuly backed up by a description of the Hudson experiments dealing with gold transformation, the ideas in this book trace the origin of the ark and its likely use as a medium containing the tablets of destiny and its use as a possible converter for gold transformation. This book is a definite must-read for Gardner fans even though some of the information is repeated from previous works. Nevertheless the focus is definitely shifted to the above.

For those interested in the foundations of this source material, this is a GENUINE and excellent place to start.It shows that the ancients were a lot more advanced than we are led to believe.They would have needed a great deal of knowledge of chemistry to do these things.
