I found this read to be just so inspiring! It was exactly what I needed today!!! So much encouragement and enlightenment. I highlighted many passages, but one of my favorites was this one:"Uncertainty causes some people to misunderstand who God is. They begin to deny God's true nature and embrace sickness and disease, poverty and mental anguish as gifts from God. That is a devastating lie from hell. It's actually blasphemous to attribute to God the work of the devil. But many Christians want answers so badly during times of uncertainty that they invent theological answers to make themselves feel good about their present condition..."It is easy to be faithful and trust in God when you are happy, healthy, and stable. It's another thing entirely to trust Him when it seems all is lost. This book was such a beautiful reminder to be faithful and have trust every day. Not just the easy ones!!!

My 5 year old has been crazy about Peg + Cat since it debuted on PBS a few years ago. He knows this episode backwards and forwards, all the songs and little sounds. So this was a no brainer buy. He has a head start on sight words and this just helps his reading skill a little more. Even if we didn't have this show permanently etched in our brains, it's a cute story that utilizes several beginning math concepts.

Beautiful print quality and binding. True to the episode. Nice looking book. Good fun silly story for learning spatial concepts.

Esme initially took herself too seriously and she really did need the grounding her siblings gave her. Although George is a tease, he is also a charming character with his protective attitude. The book is part of a series and some of the characters do overlap. It is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a happy ending. I received a copy of this novel as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This was such a delightful book. The story is about Esme', the eldest sister, who has reached her 20's and must start looking for an appropriate suitor, in her estimation. Her parents will not put that type of pressure onto any of their children. Wonderful characterization with multi-dimensional layers for the reader. A very clean, sweet and enjoyable read! I do recommend this book and this author. I look forward to the other books in this series.I received an ARC copy of this book. Esme is the eldest sister and she wants to make her family proud so she sets her sights on marrying the Marquis of Longton but he is embarrasses her at a ball but George Wentworth comes to her rescue. He seems to be everywhere she goes and her sisters think he is wonderful. Will Esme continue to want to marry for society sake or will she follow her heart? Lovely story and George was wonderful.Received from the author and this is my honest and unbiased opinion.

However her sights are on the wrong man and unfortunately he and his friends make fun of her in public. I came across this book as I began to research moving to and living in the Dominican Republic. Lindsay de Feliz gives a unique perspective to the life of an expat in the Dominican Republic. Her story telling gives an exceptional understanding of living in the Dominican and the challenges of its culture, corruption, government and the lifestyle and pace of living in this island nation.With humor, Lindsay shares the inner dealings of this country from healthcare, work, family, culture and business. This was a highly entertaining and insightful. With great detail and honesty, this author shares experiences while sharing the real life of living in the Dominican. A rich history and detailed ride along on her journey away from the beaches and resorts.A great read and a real flavor for the people and culture of the Dominican Republic.

My first real look at the DR and it was an eye opener. Lindsay leaves her life in the UK to become a scuba diver and live a less hurried life. She tells her story with a softness that makes you want to like some of the characters that come her way. Her easy writing style has you page turning. As soon as I was done reading I purchased the sequel "Life After Saucepans". I highly recommend.

As an ex-pat also living in the DR, I was very interested to read this book, and wow! what a story. Sra. de Feliz writes with great feeling and dry wit. It is an amazing story and she is a VERY good storyteller. This is a fresh take on the classic ex-pat memoir, as it is not a "walk off into the sunset/vineyard/ashram and be forever happy" kind of story. There are ups and some very, very scary downs, but the author is a woman of incredible personal courage and she takes the good and the bad with unflinching honesty and deep affection for her adopted country. Highly recommended.

The author, Lindsay admits from the start she has always been headstrong. Her first husband (George Clooney-looking!) was seven years her junior.This self-described British executive would be bored and leave behind first husband and her beloved deluxe saucepans to teach scuba diving in the Dominican Republic. She literally takes a dive into the Dominican underclass, and gets much more than she had bargained for when quitting her British life.Her very descriptive prose tells of her adventures and resilience in her new life. Call it love, sheer stubbornness or foolishness, regardless, she immerses herself further and further into her chosen new lifestyle and hangs on to follow and support her newly found love as he goes from being her motorcycle lift to win the ruling party's candidate for mayor in their town. Local dirty politics would be too much for them, though, and he would be outclassed not by the opposition party candidacy, but absurdly by the mongering of his contender in the same party. A rollercoaster of a story, this quick read makes for a great movie script.

I'm a sucker for a nail-biting, suspense-filled drama and when it comes wrapped in an expat memoir, it's even better. Lindsay de Feliz's story reads like a well-plotted fiction but I had to keep reminding myself that it's the life she's really lived. It starts out with seemingly blissful escapism, when she leaves a loveless marriage to become a dive instructor in the tropics. She winds up in the Dominican Republic, meets a local, falls in love and the reader is lulled into a story of a simple, yet idyllic life on an island. It jarringly becomes more of a true grit story, filled with danger and political corruption that makes you shake your head in disbelief on the one hand (Why in the heck doesn't she leave?) and on the other, hold your breath, praying that she lives to tell another story. Definitely one I'll read more than once!

Lindsay de Feliz is the OG DR expat. I have lived in the Dominican Republic for 5 years, and this book should be required reading for anyone who plans to move here!! I only wish I would have bought this book five years ago when I first heard about it. Not only does Lindsay give a really accurate and funny image of Dominican culture and life from an expat perspective, but she is an awesome writer. This is one of those books you cannot put down and for this reason I would recommend it even to friends who don't live in the DR. I will probably buy copies for my family to read and recommend this to my students!

I purchased the book to get information about living in the Dominican Republic and wow was I surprised. This was a captivating read and I couldn't put it down! Lindsay de Feliz did exactly what so many of us have thought about doing but didn't have the guts to pull the trigger. She tells her true story of leaving the corporate world and mundane life behind to discover her passion and joy. Rather than this being a dull book about living in the Dominican Republic, it was a fascinating read that made me laugh and cry and understand the culture of the people there. A touching love story as well! I am ordering Life After My Saucepans right now! Wait! I may just buy my plane ticket instead!

I have lived in the Dominican Republic for 13 years and, whilst I haven't been through the most harrowing of Lindsay's experiences, I could relate to so many of the aspects of life here, so accurately portrayed. This tale of real life made me laugh, cry, shout with anger and frustration and smile at the resilience of the human spirit, the power of love and the character of the Dominican and Haitian people.It is an excellent blend of biography, with witty anecdotes, and an education into the way of life here in this tropical "paradise". More than that, for me it is a testimony to the power of good over evil and how God can use even the worst circumstances for the good.I could not put it down.

I appreciate the overall great condition of the book, as it is expected that the pages lost a touch of whiteness over the years. But I was a little disappointed that the corners were slightly crushed and the rear cover also creased. Being that it was packed in bubble wrap instead of a box, this may have contributed to the deformed corners and crease. But realistically, it could also have been squeezed in a box for 35 years so all things considered, a great find for a great book.Just like I remembered it the first time I bought it, an authoritative guideline to the types of indoor plants you can raise, based on what kind of light you have in your house or apartment. Fundamental for beginners and a good refresher for those that have been in the indoor green thumb thing for years.

This is the book that indoor plant lovers and enthusiasts need. I've purchased 3 other indoor plant books, none live up to this one (even being outdated)

I love indoor plants and this book is the best "how to" resource for care and propagating tricks (per plant type) I have ever found. Even with the internet at my fingers, I still find the best care tips in this one reference book from 1981. I only use the internet to find alternate names for the plants, to help me locate them in the book.

I have been a houseplant lover for years but never found books that had all the info I wanted until I went to school for landscape and horticulture.We used this book as our text in interior design class. I have been recommending it ever since.It is the most comprehensive house plant book I have ever seen...and as a student of landscape and horticulture for 2 years, and a life time of raising plants, I have seen a LOT of houseplant books! Get a copy of it, you won't be disappointed...and at the price it is, it is a steal! I paid a LOT more for it 10 years ago...I think around $30.Enjoy....

Lots of information, however expected full colours images, most of the pictures were sketches.

I bought this on the recommendation of master gardeners and I'm glad I did. It's well illustrated and is a good, basic how-to book on caring for houseplants. It's a good resource for figuring out what's going on with different varieties. Dated, but so what, gardening and care for living plants hasn't changed.

I had one of these books years ago but got rid of it because I figured I could use the internet for any houseplant questions. Big mistake! I missed it so much I just bought another ine.

I originally purchased this book for a business law class I took, but the information I learned from it helped me from preventing my employer at the time to get one over on me. Everybody should know the basics of business law, especially contract law, and this book provides that kind of valuable information in a way easy to retain.1. It's literally saved me from being screwed out of over $1000 dollars.2. It's slightly bigger than the average sized mouse-pad, so you can use it as a mouse-pad stand while surfing the internet from your couch.A saving grace from scumbag businessmen and a convenient mouse-pad stand, it should be in every single house.

Better than Expected!I am an attorney that had to take this class as part of a certificate in Finance. I was tested in areas that I have not studied in years or am not exposed to, e.g. HR, patents and trademarks, etc. Some areas are more detailed for a law student.This is an interesting book with plenty of examples, well organized, and I gave it 4 stars because it is probably more detailed than a general business student will need in the future.

Great quality book, and definitely the best price I could find. I was concerned that this textbook would be very dry and hard to understand, but they do a god job of explaining things to make them understandable, and then gradually building your knowledge of law. While this is not my favorite class subject, this book has prepared me well for my class and helped me earn a better grade.

I got the Kindle version after I already had a hardback version for a Business Law class. The hardback version was fine, but what I found in the Kindle version was that the number of missing passages, typos, and errors was very high.In one situation, one of the cases was actually missing! I was asked to read in class by my instructor, and had to borrow a book after a few minutes of struggling to understand what case he was talking about. I believe that was in chapter 9, but can't remember.In other cases the formatting is rendered useless, and if things are in an ordered numbered list, they are just jumbled together poorly.I just found in Chapter 10, several sentences that were cut off, and mashed together so incomprehensibly that I had to refer back to the paper version. I am sincerely grateful I have the paper version because there is no way I could have answered that take home test question with that passage because it doesn't make sense at all.It is still useful, for the most part, to take to class, but I would not rely on it for tests. The information is just all to often missing, or has typos that render it hard to understand.I'm actually very disappointed in this because I was going to buy all my textbooks in Kindle format if I could next quarter, but now I'm not so sure I should.

This book is great for people who have never taken any business law courses. This book is very informative and it helped me learn a lot about US business policies and legal issues. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to get knowledgeable about the law.

Great textbook, satisfied with purchase. I got this book for my Business Law college course. Thick textbook, 400+ pages. Content is solid and should go well with Business Law courses. It comes with many court cases and sample follow-up questions (answers in back) which are very helpful. The book also has a great index and separate legal definitions sections, which were great as well. Very satisfied with purchase.

Succinct but sloppy. Some mistakes; weird presentation of facts at times (probably doesn't want to get sued by another textbook that had a straightforward explanation, maybe.)
