Russell A. Barkley, PhD, is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. He holds a diplomate (board certification) in three specialties: clinical psychology, clinical child and adolescent psychology, and clinical neuropsychology. With this book Russell Barkley has broken new ground on the subject of adult ADHD. Having ADHD myself, being a parent of a still struggling adult ADHD child and as a psychotherapist specializing in adult ADHD, I found this book extremely informative, useful and validating. There is a wealth here of the most up to date information on adult ADHD, as well as relevant personal stories that help the reader get a deep and compassionate view into the challenges adults with ADHD are faced with, including his own story of his painful experience with his ADHD brother and nephew. He offers much here to help parents, partners and others with a struggling ADHD adult loved one in their lives better understand adult ADHD, and how to constructively support a person with this disability without martyring themeselves. A must read. Bravo, Dr Barkely!

A great deal of information you find on ADD has to do with children and teens. This is a great book for those of us who want to help our adult loved one. Dr. Russell does not sugarcoat the real detrimental effects on the life of the person with ADD and those around him who care and love him/her. At the same time, it offers scientific information and real effective and practical ways to deal with it. It really is an eye opener and must read for those of us who are committed to being part of our loved ADD loved one's success.

Overbearing at times context on everything adhd. 3-4 valuable chapters on ideas for treating adhd. Too scientific reading to the point of being unempathetic. Boring, long, repetitive paragraphs. Could use a lot more color and stories.

Its easy to read and helpful, even for non-English reader like me. Though there are few facts that some people may not want to accept, like diet and supplements doesn’t help much.

This book is a must have for anyone that has a loved with with ADHD. It is life changing. You will feel so much better as a person and gain so much knowledge.

About the Author

Author Kathy Bresnahan was the varsity coach at Iowa City West High from 1987 2000 and 2005 2013. She took the Women of Troy to the state tournament seven times and won back-to-back state titles in 2010 & 2011. Brez, as she is affectionately known, was the State Coach of the Year in both championship seasons and was named National Coach of the Year in 2011 by PrepVolleyball.com. If you liked the movie, you will LOVE the book! If you haven't seen the movie, read the book first; it gives some poignant information the movie misses. More details, more feeling, more behind-the-scenes descriptions of how this incredible community surrounded and supported their own in the aftermath of this tragedy.Coach Bresnahan does an excellent job of detailing the practices, meetings, matches, and emotions of the roller coaster ride of losing a close friend. This story makes you feel like you are on the journey with this team, wishing you could reach out and help them through their grief. Coach Bresnahan has a wonderful open style, letting us know she is stuggling personally in dealing with the loss of her beloved player, but also trying to help her team figure out their new normal.I love the fact that she is honest about not knowing if what she is doing helps the players or not, but she continues to be a solid foundation on which they can rely as they each figure out what they need through their despair.A story I found captivating; a coach who is endearing, and a book I will read more than once.

This book tells a great story of a young girls death and how it impacted an entire community by inspiring them to be kind to everyone and make an effort to include everyone. This focuses on the perspective of her volleyball coach and leading her team through the season just days after the loss of their setter. Personally, I lived in the community at the time this happened and this book does a great job of telling details that weren’t well known as well as playing to the true emotions that everyone in the community experienced.

Saw the movie last week and felt the need to read the book to fill in the blanks. It's a well-written book and gives a clear account of facts and feelings. I've still got a giant lump in my throat from this story. It's got very real emotional content - the good, the bad, and the gut-wrenching feelings and struggles surrounding this tragedy. I played volleyball and I coach volleyball so I found myself tensing while reading the play by play action about what was happening on the court! What an exceptional group of girls and coaches and parents and community to make something beautiful grow from such loss. Thank you, Coach Bresnahan for letting us all be a part of this and as long as I live, I will never forget what it means to Live Like Line.

This is a must read book for parents and athletes. You'll cry, you'll laugh and you won't be able to put it down! I read it with my 9 year old daughter and we had soo many amazing conversations about life as we read it together! She loved it and I was excited to share with her some of my favorite things...volleyball, an amazing coach who has touched so many lives, community, friendships, faith and people making a difference in others lives.

Holy cow, Brez!! I cried, I laughed, I cried some more... You all are amazing! I can’t even begin to imagine as a coach, having to be put in that position. They don’t teach you those things in coaching school 😉. You are an inspiration, Caroline’s teammates are an inspiration. Every coach and athlete needs to read this book. Every human needs to read this book. God’s speed to ALL of you!! ♥️♥️

It is the heart warming story of Caroline Found's way of touching the lives of others. She was the captain of her team's volleyball team. A couple weeks into the preseason on 8-11-11 Caroline was killed in a moped accident. The rest of the book is how the team overcame the loss of their friend and team captain to try and win the second state championship in a row. It is a very good book and I highly recommend it.

This was such an inspiring story about a family, a community, a team and coaches that went through very tough times, times we all hope to never experience. Brez does an amazing job getting the reader to feel how each day with the team was so difficult and tough, it was about survival and overcoming a tragedy together. Every volleyball enthusiast will LOVE this book, as will all athletes and the general population. I found the emotion to be very raw. While I knew this story, I didn't know it in this detail and I think it is SO awesome to hear the depths of the story. So inspiring, LIVE LIKE LINE! Great job by Coach Brez and her staff, the volleyball players and the Found family. A MUST READ! - Julie Keith

The premise of the novel was good; however, the writing was stilted and sometimes abrupt. Usually I like Danielle Steel's novels, but this one deserves the low ratings. Some of the characters have warmth and depth but most were stiff and didn't seem to relate to the entirety of the story. In reading along thinking that more would happen, the novel ended. Just. Like. That. Abruptly. In the future, I'll read more of the reviews before buying one of this author's books. That being said, I did enjoy the last two, the novel flowed better and the writing was more crisp and insightful.

Should have skipped this one. Very disappointed

Danielle Steele has taken a different method to writing the last few years. In her earlier books, the storyline was very very similar through each of her works. Now she is taken a different "spin"/perspective to telling her stories, and I have really liked the diversity she has published. This was a good book but not in the same writing outline Steel normally follows, even with her new direction. It was historically aligned with her characters and while it was good and I enjoyed it, I didn't find it to be the page turner of her past books. Still quite worth the read!! I will always read and enjoy a Danielle Steel book.......always!

I grew up during a lot of what Danielle writes about in this story.I remember a lot of what happened and what the characters in this story go through brought it all back to me. Not an easy time for anyone and there was a lot of death and heartbreak during the war in Vietnam and the aftermath. A well written story that is both hard to read and yet very informative about all the events that took place.

This for me was a different read for. Danielle Steele. I very much enjoyed the story line e and the lessons in history.

I really enjoyed this book. Danielle Steel's writing has matured in the last several years. I have almost all of her books, and there was a period of time where her writing was not that good. I found this book to be gripping. I grew up during that time frame, 60's, 70's and 80's. The fight against racism, discrimination and women's rights were truly a volatile time in history.

I have been reading Danielle Steel since day one and I am quite convinced that she is not solely writing the books that are coming out now. She has a very distinct style and pattern in all of her books that are missing now in her books in the last year and half to two years. She is also suddenly putting out many more books per year than she did previously. I believe that much like James Patterson, she is not writing WITH someone and not acknowledging that fact. Her books lack the previous attributes that made you want to curl up with her newest book.

Not very good. Boring. I think this was written during sleep. Hated the ending. Save your $$$$

I preordered this in January and it arrived today, the day the book was released. I've followed Esther on FB for so long, that Steve and Derek feel like friends that I wave to everyday as I leave the house. Even tossed a few dollars into the fund to help buy the sanctuary, holding my breath, watching the fund grow higher each day. It's been a wild ride, and certainly a unique story that no one else can tell. Others may own a pig, but that pig isn't going to become a worldwide sensation, get people to donate huge funds for a sanctuary, and turn people into vegans. There's magic at work here. Enter Esther, the girl who made Steve, Derek, and herself a household name. The book is funny, endearing, thought provoking, and reminds us that there are many other animals that are just as loving and intelligent as our current domesticated pets, and that they don't deserve the treatment or fate they receive in this world. You may not go completely vegan after reading the book, but most everything about Esther's story will at least give you pause, a reason to consider things that you didn't think about before. Oddly enough, it was yet another person trying to take advantage of an animal that brought Esther into Steve and Derek's life: a person trying to make a quick buck by selling baby commercial pigs, passing them off as "mini pigs". Fate stepped in, Esther was spared a horrific and short life before becoming a package of bacon, and instead became a social media personality that has followers around the globe. No one saw that coming! It helps that her dads have so much personality, and can capture Esther's thoughts and expressions in photos and then write hilarious captions from Esther's point of view. This book is a quick read, very entertaining, and will hopefully make each person ask themselves, "What can I do to make this world one notch better while I'm here? Even if my actions cannot fix the whole problem, what is my personal decision about partaking in this issue? Am I humane, as well as human?" The only way I could be happier with this book is if it had more pages with more wonderful tales of our favorite porcine princess…I’ve been following Esther, her dads and HEEFS for a while now on social media and, I love everything about them and their story. I learned that you can commit to something and work every second to make it a reality. I loved reading every word and felt absolutely more in love with this family. The book was well written and so funny. Like laugh out loud funny. And so interesting. I got it at 1 pm today and started reading. I just finished it. Page turner. I have been following Esther the Wonder Pig on Facebook for about 7-8 months now. Her personality as portrayed by the dads, who know her well, is both funny and educational. I welcomed the opportunity to find out how it all started and to follow her current adventures! And you cannot exclude Miss Esther's siblings from different mothers! Makes the family complete! This book is an easy read, I bought the e-book and read it this afternoon. I appreciate Steve and Derek sharing freely the emotional roller coaster that came from making a 'mini pig' part of the family and how they held on fast refusing to let go of their 650 pound little girl! I highly recommend this book and recommend you follow Esther the Wonder Pig on Facebook!

I LOVED this book. I am bias because I already love Esther, her Dads, the dogs and all of the farm but reading this book was a true delight. I already knew most of Esther's story but the added insights never shared before on social media were a fun read. The book brings both out loud laughs as well as worries and also happy tears. If you know Esther or just want to read a heartwarming story of two men and their pig then I highly recommend this book. It is a must for any Esther fan.

After many years as a science and environment staff correspondent for Frankfurter Allgemeine Newspaper and DER SPIEGEL magazine, he now works as a freelance writer for GEO, Cicero and DIE ZEIT science magazine as well as other leading media. Though i feel aligned with the author on our common environmental concerns, and he does present many of them well, we go two very different ways on the solution(s). His, a very techno heavy, manipulative path (robots, genetic engineering, control and dominion over nature) that many energy addicted "westerners" might appreciate. My own, and many others (he calls "Eco Freaks") view, (including most native/indigenous peoples, also know as the "poor" of the planet) choosing a path in harmony with this planet system that has given us this glorious dancing place now.He tries to coin a few new words or phrases: Organic Gardening will become "High Tech" Organic Gardening with the use of GMO's is one prime example. As if organic gardening needs 'help' like that. Its been proven gardening methods that mimic nature's natural cycles could, and would produce much more food than our current chemical agriculture and its insidious industrial mono cropping which is destroying the forests and soils of our planet at breakneck speed. All this technological 'help' we've been getting is directly responsible for the condition we now find ourselves in today, as we plateau and start sloping downward to the end of our fossil carbon age.The author is really big on how scientist and technology will save us, and how we need to pour much more money into research and development. To me, this was a real oversight, for i feel we already have all the knowledge and tools we need to get going full steam ahead in turning this anthropogenic climate change around. It's will, and political will that is sorely needed. More of humanity, especially the more affluent ones, need to open their eyes to the benefits (the Joy, actually) from our work and cooperation, even though much of it will be mitigation and adaptation.So, to not make this too long, a few short observations. I gave his book 2 stars because i enjoyed it, though it was a bit scary. His ability to describe research findings was very good. He's a good rhetorician (possibly for the wrong causes), but also uses many of his own articles to back up the case he's making, and i feel, bends others views that he footnotes.We, human beings, i believe, aren't really anywhere close to being accomplished enough to "play God" as the author would love to do with creating new species, and genetic engineering, etc.. Look at the state of affairs we've gotten our planet, and ourselves into with our 'good intentions' and inventions so far. True, a lot of them have helped, but many have us headed toward the yawning maw of extinction for an exponentially increasing number of our fellow 'travelers' here, including ourselves. And the bottom line is, we already have everything we need to go forward into finding our true harmony with our planet and ourselves, and positive solutions for our 'climate crisis'. Each one of us has a responsibility to understand what deep doo doo we're in, turn our own lives toward getting to know our planet, ourselves and our "God", whatever or however we relate to that mysterious life force energy that science will never be able to put its finger on.I'd recommend reading Vandana Shiva...Soil, not Oil, or maybe her newly released book i don't know the name of.

I've used Genki and Nakama, but I absolutely love Genki. I've used it in class and on my own. The terms are useful and the grammar is easy to understand. Would recommend for people who are in class and need the book, or people who are self-taught Japanese students.For those of you who are self-taught, it might be a good idea to get the workbook or at least do all of the activities and use a key or the CDs to check your answers.

I began studying Japanese language with the orange Genki book, four semesters ago. I find this the best text on the market. I am now entering my 5th semester and ready to take on the green book.The book is laid out in an easy to follow style beginning with a dialogue, new vocabulary, and grammar points. In the last half of the chapter there are drills that help you with each grammar point. In the back there are kanji drills and other useful language phrases and situational tips. The text is clear and easy to follow. This is a comprehensive language course.I highly recommend this text.

I've tried many things, Rosetta Stone,Internet help web sites, audio tapes, almost everything you can imagine to learn japanese. But the Genki textbooks are what has really worked for me. If you put enough time and energy into dedicating yourself to studying the books material. You will definitely be on a good start with your journey into learning Japanese. I do wish there was a book 3.

This book is amazing as for learning Japanese. I got this book for my class and it does helps out a lot. They way they integrate English into japanese makes it so much easier to understand. It really helps me put my sentences together as I write or speak it, which is a plus for me or anyone willing to learn. I would also recommend the first book as well so it can get you prepared for this version.

Got to speak the Japanese I learned from Genki for a lot of situations in Japan recently, people love it when you don't have to use hand signals and stare at them confused like a deer in headlights. Great stuff, buy it.

Had to have this for my second level university class and it is a very nice book. With this and the work book, it is perfect of class or self teaching. I am using this to help teach my sister and it is very nice in explaining different concepts of the language

I bought this during my first year class and it helped me get through so much! If you’re just starting out on Japanese, I definitely recommend getting this book on top of the required book!

Worth the money, and dont just rely on this book purchase or same series. Learn from others sources as well to become well rounded out.

I have read dozens of books on track driving, and have been driving on track for 20 years and I and find this author's explanations very cryptic. I would not buy

Perfect corner 1 and 2 as well as perfect control are full of info that are written in other books, but these books are written in a laborious and sometimes very confusing fashion.

This book is the third in a series, and picks up where the others leave off by covering topics such as connected and complex turns, so that we can understand how to optimize a track as a whole. All three books are must-reads for anyone serious about optimizing their performance/race driving, and the three books should be read in order. There's a lot of physics embedded in these books, and though it's explained patiently and intuitively, the reader needs to do their part in really studying the books - this isn't light reading. But if you want to understand not only how to drive optimally, but also *why* certain things are optimal, there's no substitute for delving into the physics. Remember, if driving well was easy, it wouldn't be challenging and fun!Do I need to say more? Order the three books, read them carefully and repeatedly, and be prepared for your driving to be transformed. I'm aware of no other resources on driving which compare with these books.
