I have been a fan of Mary's music and writing for years now and like the headline says I knew I was going to love it because I always connect with whatever art she shares, sometimes in small ways other times in huge ways, this was one of the huge ways moment, for sure. Evelyn Is Made Up is my most favorite poem I have ever read and I have read thousands from Poe to Wilde and Maya Angelou to Anne Sexton, Rachel Mckibbens, Adrienne Rich ..well you get the picture I love poetry. Never have I felt more valid as a growing human who once made up a "normal" version of herself when she felt like she was either too expressive or not expressive enough, I honestly never felt more connected to a piece of writing than that moment and it will forever be special to me. All the poems are a treasure each their own and I know there is a trigger warning as it deals with hard issues that can bring about painful memories including rape but I feel everyone would get a deep bonding experience reading this poetry collection and the benefit outrisks the pain. If you are on the fence about getting it, please let me pull you over and convince you to take a chance on it, It's really special, deep, meaningful and rawly beautiful in a universal way.

This is by far my favorite poetry collection I read this year. I've always thought Mary Lambert was an amazing writer, singer, and general human, but I felt like I really connected with her through this book. She writes honestly and beautifully about love, friendship, abuse, rape, fame, and so much more. The day after I finished I ordered her other book of poetry, 500 Tips for Fat Girls, because I'm so eager for more. Highly recommend!

I was anxiously awaiting the release of Mary's poems and the book does not disappoint. Her poems are beautiful, truly, in the most profound and vulnerable way. She shares so much of herself and I noticed myself feeling empowered and somehow stronger. Brilliant read. I highly recommend this book.

TGA Subcool rules having info on most of the strains an stories behind some is key to anyone wanting to breed with TGA Genetics gear. Not a great read but some very good info and awesome pics. Subcool has high standards so picking a TGA strain is almost full proof packs of 5 usually give me 5 great phenos and very very very high female to male ratio, also I've never had a bad plant out of 55 beans 100% (55 of 55) even some I had stored at room temp for 17 months were fresh as new. Other breeders I can't say the same about so I highly recommend this book for sativa Dom hybrids and some 50/50 hybrids. The Vortex, cheese quake , chernybol, qrazy Train, Time Wreck, Brian Berry cough(new), jacks cleaner BX , ace of spades, Jillybean , space queen or Jill , Jack the Ripper , ripped Bubba, plush berry , querkle, space dawg and Conspiracy kush or Jesus OG all rate 8-10 months a 1/10 scale overall and biggest knock or only one is yields. The great ones never yield they produce medication (THC, CBD, CBN etc..) good medication garaunteed depression gone and more.

Interesting read. I learned a little about the breeding process and specifically how subcool does his breeding. Doesn't seem like rocket science. What I like is he breeds in less than ideal conditions to breed tougher genetics than other breeders who "dial" everything in perfectly. I would trust his seeds over others based on his breeding techniques. If your interested in cannabis I recommend this easy short read into some strains of subcool. Cheers!

Great book with some old school strains. Gives subs journal on the strain and the information on it. There's about 50-60 strains he features on there and a lot are legit and many agree. It's not a horrible book someone who says that just didn't get what they were looking for.

For this type of farming it's difficult to find genetics that are dependable and top-quality. Look no further than DANK.I originally bought DANK, a couple years ago. I was sort of bummed that all the strains weren't listed in the original book. So it was sweet to find DANK 2.0 had the new ones (Qleaner) listed.As with the original, the pictures are excellent and the writing is just as well done. This is a guy, and I speak with knowledge on the subject, who knows of what he speaks/writes. His strains (many available) are some of the best genetics I've found.I only want to know what to do with my old DANK. And will there be a dank 3? All of a sudden I'm anxious.

Very interesting with great pictures and many in-depth discussions on different varieties and their ups and downs as well as the type of environment and quirks they like. However, in the paperback version (that was printed in China of course) multiple pages are missing that cut off right at the good parts you would love to read more than likely lost because the text is broken between by multiple pictures which should just probably be better off left either at the end of the writing of each strain or just right at the beginning with the strain name or something. Other than that a right interesting book

What can I say about this book,its fantastic,the photographs are amazing and strikingly stunning. I bought this book because Subcool and the rest of the avengers are doing many great things in the lines of genetics. More importantly they help raise money for kids with autism,I find that to be so generous. This book is a great read,visually appealing to the eyes and sure to remain a nostalgic book in my collection for many years. I will purchase the 1st book once the price goes down. It is a very sought after book and the prices are skyrocketing.

I loved reading the history of TGA strains. It was interesting getting an insight into choice selections as well as those that don't make the cut and why. I love these kinds of books!Oh and the pictures are amazing too!

Too many to mention here but my favorite is: Margaret Miller, one of Monsanto's researchers , who put together the report on rBGH (the growth hormone that is injected into cows to increase milk production which gives them infections and shorter life spans and we happen to be drinking rBGH in our milk supply). Shortly before her submission of the report to the FDA, she left Monsanto and was hired by the FDA as deputy director of the office of New Animal Drugs!!! "One of Miller's first jobs was to determine if she should approve the report she wrote for Monsanto. She approved it."!The book Seeds of Deception focuses sharply on the problems with genetically engineered foods. This book also has that but not as in depth, more like in summary, but the major focus in Shedding Light on Genetically Engineered Food is the massive corruption involving this industry and its intricate and profitable connection with the U.S. government and the use of U.S. citizens as guinea pigs. The Shaw Brothers is one of the most important film studios in the history of Asian cinema. Their influence on pan-Asian entertainment cannot be overstated. Though Celestial Pictures bought the rights to the entire Shaw Brothers film library (US$84 mil) and started releasing them in 2002 (for years before people had to rely on bootlegs to watch their films), it took until 2008 for an English-language book dedicated to this studio to be published here in the States (The Shaw Screen: A Preliminary Study was released earlier in Hong Kong by the HKFA.)"China Forever: The Shaw Brothers and Diasporic Cinema" states that "This is the first English-language book devoted to the study of a single Chinese-language film studio in a global historical context." It is far from definitive with a few gargantuan omissions. In the collection of essays it has not one chapter dedicated on either of the two most famous of the Shaw Brothers oeuvre - the Mandarin wuxia and kung fu movies. Poshek Fu missed a golden opportunity with this mistake. This book also completely ignores the exploitation cinema that included such cult hits as Black Magic, Boxer's Omen and Killer Snakes. All three of these genres were crucial in transnational sales. However for students of Hong Kong cinema and especially for interest of those in the Shaw Brothers this is still a valuable book with several excellent essays and a couple of questionable value.When dealing with collections of short essays the quality of the whole should be determined by the editor. Unfortunately, when the introduction by Editor Poshek Fu contains a few errors and information that does not coincide with other authors this could be construed as an inauspicious foreshadow of things to come. He makes a couple of minutia type errors like stating the founding of Tianyi is 1925 as opposed to the other authors information and the Shaw Brothers website of 1924 (he also translate Tianyi as Number One instead of the authors translation of Unique). He also makes more egregious mistakes like dating Five Fingers of Death at 1965 (it was 1972) and stating on Cheng Pei-pei "After a long retirement from acting, she recently returned to the screen with the role of Jade Fox in Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." He makes it seem that she just recently came back to acting after a long retirement, when in fact (and even mentioned in her essay) that she came back in Painted Faces (1988) and even had over 10 acting appearances between that film and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Fortunately this is not indicative of the majority of the material.There are several fascinating chapters on the Shaws Cantonese cinema, their musicals, their wenyi (loosely known as melodrama) films and their malay films - most of which are not on DVD. These discuss the importance of the dialect cinema, the Shaws rival company MP & GI and the history of The Shaw Brothers - how they thought global and acted locally. There is so much useful information on the earlier period of the Shaw Brothers, though there remains much to be learned from the unreleased films. Then there are two chapters that mostly focus on a specific film: one on Hong Kong Nocturne (1967) and Love Eterne (1963) - I will probably find these more worthwhile after watching those movies.There are two out-of-place chapters with the first being "Black audiences, blaxploitation, and Kung Fu films" which has very little to discuss on the Shaw Brothers (though a nuanced look at blaxploitation) and focuses more on Golden Harvest and Bruce Lee. The second "Shaw Brothers Cinema and the Hip-Hop Imagination" which despite its title has very little to do with the titular studio except for the movie "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" and its relation to the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan. Both of these could be useful in other collections, but there inclusion here seems problematic because of the exclusion of the genres that I mentioned earlier.Luckily, the final chapter is an excellent, albeit too short essay by Hong Kong actress Cheng Pei-pei: "Reminiscences of the Life of an Actress in Shaw Brothers' Movietown" which pretty much describes the chapter. Her feelings are so positive that they are infectious, even though she talks about several suicides that happened on Movietown (Qin Jian and Li Ting) that there is darker side to this movie studio left unexplored by this book.While not perfect, I expect many fans of the Shaw Brothers to want to add this volume to their library. Several of the chapters are worth having for reference and rereading. However, there is still an opening for an English language edition on the Shaw Brothers to be much more inclusive and cohesive. Now who is going to write it?

This book is a delightful and informative insight into the world of the Shaw Brothers Studio. Besides being synonymous with kung fu films, many of the chapters include a fascinating history of the Shaw family and their beginnings and rise in the entertainment industry. At the peak of their globalization, their film output was numerous throughout China and Southeast Asia. One of the chapters I found noteworthy was a successful film the studio made in the 1960s called “The Love Eterne.” Based from an opera, the film’s plot and characters not only was made interesting cinematically but also touched millions of moviegoers. Although many, such as myself, would find the kung fu chapters the highlight of the book (and since most of us remembered watching the Shaw Brothers kung fu films on television on a weekend afternoon), the chapters not discussing kung fu are just as important and significant. I highly recommend this book. It is a fascinating study and read, particularly for readers who are interested in learning about global filmmaking and cinema. And be sure to read the very last chapter! Actress Cheng Pei-Pei (from the King Hu classic “Come Drink with Me”) adds her memorable moments of her early days working at the Shaw Brothers Studios.
