I work in a self-contained program for students with autism, as well as an adjunct professor teaching pre-service graduate students in education. This book has a great series of chapters that give practical advice, and easy steps for implementation, that honors the interests and voice of students. I highly recommend it!

Great read for kids and adults alike.

I enjoyed this text so much as it offered simply stated ideas to teach children with autism. I love how it offers short stories about real children and how the authors supported their communication, social needs, anxiety, and academic skill development.

It's hard to decide what I love most about this book. Throughout the book Kluth and Schwartz combine three essential elements for working with All children: Respecting difference, challenging assumptions, and empowering learners. From the cover to the last page they get the reader thinking about the biases that influence how we view children(they're fascinations, not obssessions!) and they offer hands-on, realistic strategies for bringing out the best in all students. They tell stories from teachers and students who have found success in creative ways. It's inspiring and positive throughout. I bought a copy for myself, then ordered several more to share.

Great book with useful strategies for helping all non-typical learners in a school or therapy setting. Good ideas for home based learning also.

I'm a Paula Kluth fan and this book did not disappoint me. I work with students who have a wide range of disabilities and some of the examples have helped me help teachers deliver instruction to students with their own fascinations.

This book is well written. If you are experienced, it is a synthesis of what you already know and do. If you are new to working with children who have different abilities this is a great resource.

If you have lived through a spy mole hunt, this is the book to know/have. From understanding why SVR-FSB is doing strange things, why people are walking around at 4 am with trash bags, and ponder as to whether the strange guy in the trench coat down the street is a cat burglar or just makes a habit of going to the same spot every other day, this book helps answer those strange questions. This is especially important for those living in Capital Hill and next to Russian embassies (neighbors beware) or if one lives next to a spy/mole. Having been from Houston and survived the Hansen, Chapman, Fishenko, and other spy/mole hunts it's a good reference to have. Plus even the Russians keep one around if they're in a foreign country to know how to avoid the SECRET POLICE that's very SECRETIVE.

Even after the Soviet era,I have no doubt that the old ways of the KGB are still alive and well in modern Russia, and this book gives many hints on just the sort of lethal and extremely crafty enemy the west had in Soviet intelligence. Written in a relatively light and readable way, it's filled with numerous accounts and small stories that show interesting insight into the Soviet/Russian mind-set.

Some of the other reviews have essentially called this a detailed but boring non-fiction spy thriller. If you're looking for that kind of work, I suggest Suvorov's other GRU book: Inside the Aquarium, a more personal account of his own military and espionage career. Even taken as a thriller, this book delivers better than many popular works on the KGB, Mossad, and other agencies. But I don't think it's fair to Suvorov or this book to treat it as a thriller when it's far more.Instead, I think of this as the most readable, exciting reference work I've seen in the field by far. Suvorov covers everything you would need in a reference work: the GRU's history and key personnel, its relationship with the KGB and the rest of the Soviet system, its administrative and organizational structure, and its operational techniques and preferences. And yet it's concise, complete, deeply insightful and wonderfully readable.Many Western experts, especially on the Left, gave Suvorov's works some pretty harsh reviews at the time, and considered his reports to be unreliable. With the fall of the Soviet Union and the release of other first-hand accounts of the Soviet military and intelligence networks, Suvorov has been pretty much totally vindicated. The book is now quite dated, but as a historical and philosophical work it's still absolutely fantastic.

This book does a great job exploring the inside world of the GRU (Soviet Military Intelligence). My favorite work by this author is "Inside the Aquarium", it is about the same subject but more about his personal experiences and it is a much better book. (in my opinion)

I got it for my b/friend who is military. He enjoyed reading this book as well as others by this author. One comment from him - it is a hard reading if you are not familiar with Russian politics and history of those times.

I recently purchased this book after watching Shelley several times on 3ABN. This book has made such a difference in my Bible study, which was admittedly non-existent or hit and miss, at best. Shelley's book has caused me to read the scriptures in the affirmations and study them more thoroughly by reading the scriptures from which they are taken. It's amazing how I WANT to study now, and I can't explain the difference it's made in my heart and mind. If anyone has had difficulty or reluctance in Bible study or if you just need a starting place, I truly feel this will get you going in the right direction...don't hesitate!

It just doesn't get any better. If you are looking for understanding that will fine tune your whole mindset and heart attitude, this book is it along with its companion book. Get the both.

It is a good book by the looks of it but I haven't made the time to delve into it yet.

I have not even finished this book but am so excited. It is explaining so much about my hormone options. I feel hope that my many health symptons can be relieved with this advise. Have already started using the natural progesterone and am starting to see relief. If you are a menopausal or post menoppausal woman you MUST buy this book!

The author repeats herself again and again and everything could have been said in about half the space, however, the information is very valuable so I do recommend reading this book.

By FAR, the best book in his Great Lives series. I've read them all several times. The reason Moses is the best, is the lessons, insights, and life applications that Chuck draws out of a story that you've likely heard and read several times. If you haven't read this book, I would highly recommend it, although any of the Great Lives books are good to revisit for personal study, sermons, or Bible study material.My favorite part was Chapter 5: "The Desert: School of Self-Discovery." In this chapter, Chuck highlights how we all go through desert seasons where God seeks to train us up, similar to Moses 40 years in the wilderness of Midian and Mt. Sinai. Chuck endearingly calls this God's "Wilderness University" or "Desert University," and describes the 4 "majors" that God provides in his curriculum, as he trains up a man or woman of God. Chuck reuses these themes in ALL of his Great Lives series and applies them to David, Elijah, Esther, etc.The following "majors" or life lessons are:1) Obscurity- God uses obscurity to break down our pride/ego, remove our desire to "be in the limelight," and to be humble/willing to be used by Him2) Time/Waiting- God uses time to grow our patience and reliance on Him3) Solitude- God uses solitude, to give us time to reflect, remove busyness from our lives, and to develop our ability to stand for God, even when the "crowd" or others don't.4) Discomfort- God uses discomfort to develop our ability to tolerate hardship and "be content in all things" as Paul says in the New Testament.

I was interested in learning more about King David, but wanted something more like a "novel," than a heavy in-depth biography. I never seemed to find anything like that, but went with this one because of the author's reputation. Swindoll provides an entertaining account of the events in David's life, using scripture and also lively contemporary language. What I did not expect, but have enjoyed, is that he also draws parallels between David's actions and other Bible events, and also applies to modern life some lessons to be learned from David. I have found these digressions from a "just the facts, ma'am" approach to be interesting and, in some cases, thought-provoking. If, however, a reader would prefer a book that is strictly a biographical account of David's life, this may not be the best choice. I gave it 4 stars because occasionally the author gets a bit too preachy.

I've always admired Dr. Chuck Swindoll's radio ministry, as I believe he preaches the unadulterated Word of God. His Insights For Living are lessons I have carefully listened to and tried to apply to my own life. A while back, I recall him doing a series of radio programs on the life of King David, and I believe those programs resulted in him writing this book.I heartily recommend this book to those who desire a study of King David and his life and times. Swindoll takes his information directly from Kings and Chronicles, and considers the life of David from when he was a young boy tending his father's sheep, to an old man of 70, about to die. Swindoll tells King David's story and the lessons Christians can learn from the most written about person in the entire Old Testament. Swindoll is a list-maker, and in each chapter he provides a list of key ideas or lessons to be learned by King David's attitude or actions that are applicable to believers today. For example, what kind of mindset is required to face down a giant challenge, such as a Goliath? What does it mean to be "A man after God's own heart?" How can a man of faith commit adultery and then have a man murdered in order to steal his wife? What should our response be with our children rebel against us? These and many more questions are asked and answered in Swindoll's book.I am using this book as a nightly Bible study and I can hardly wait to get to bed to read another chapter. I have enjoyed this book so much that I will likely purchase the next book in his series on Biblical characters.I knew very little about King David before beginning this study, and as I come to the conlcusion of the book, I feel I know the general outlicne of David's life so much better, and have improved insights into his personality, his struggles, his moral failings, and his faith in his God. David's life is one of great contrasts. Since he is the most written about person in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit must want us to learn about this Man of God, and learn how he failed and how he suceeded in his walk of faith.This is not a difficult book to read. Swindoll writes for the average reader, yet has insights and clarity that will benefit the church deacon or pastor. I most highly recommend this book as a great starting point to learn about the greatest King of Israel.konedog

Bought this book because I needed some more fluid info on David, more chronological for the retreat I was about to speak at. Wow! Every chapter ministered to my soul and spoke to me in such deep ways. You can almost read this like a devotional because swindoll puts little nuggets in every chapter that will challenge you in deep ways. This book is a keeper. You won't be seeing mine resold on amazon!

My parents named me "David" so I wanted to learn more about the life of the one God chose who was named David. It was a great book; good reading and well organized. Lots of scripture was used to describe David's life. I will probably buy some more in Chuck Swindoll's Bible character series.

From my earliest days of accepting Christ, I have loved Chuck Swindoll. His writing is so clear and the everyday application so practical. This book was no exception. Examining the life of David with application from every period of his life allowed me to feel that God can use anyone to accomplish his purposes.

I ordered this book, after sitting in for the Admin at church. There I read the first 3 chapters and was hooked. Swindoll writes as if he is talking with you in common, every day language so it is easy to understand and a joy to read the story. I love it so much that I ordered one for my Aunt to read with me. So, if you're looking for something great to read and love the Bible story of David, I'd say give this one a try.

As all of us old geezers know, growing old has its pluses and minuses. On one hand our memories sometimes fail us and some of us become senile, but the positive factor is we always get to meet new friends every day. One of the most important things to have as a senior is a sense of humor and that is why I purchased this little 138 page paperback (365 Senior Moments You’d rather forget by Karen O’Connor) book. Laughter is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle.I found this book to have some very funny senior moments, but most of them were merely amusing. It is easy to relate to some of these lapses of memory incidents as we age such as leaving the car running and losing your house keys. At this point in my life I am glad that I have not experienced the majority of things mentioned in this amusing book. Some of the lapses of memory that I found somewhat amusing in this book include the following:“Searching for your favorite pen and finding it perched behind your ear.” “Cutting your own hair to save money and being shocked at the result.” (Note: I did get better with practice). “Making a shopping list then forgetting it at home.” (Which means I bought more than I had planned?) “Fertilizing the lawn before pulling the weeds.” “Leaving home without your house keys and ID.”If you are an old geezer with a sense of humor you will find many of these examples very amusing.Rating: 4 Stars. Not as funny as I had hoped. Planned on giving it as a gift. Will not. Needs something else to spice up the true anecdotes. Perhaps cartoon drawings attached to many of the stories. Although I am a Senior and can relate with some of my own stories, I did not enjoy this book.

This little book was very funny. I have made many of the snafus described in the book. I have shared it with other residents at our assisted living facility. We had a lot of good laughs.

Funny stuff! Fun read for younger and older, but especially older!

I love to give messages of humor when someone is ill. The Bible says "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine..." This book really does give a good dose of "Medicine".

Birthday gift to my 80 year old cousin who said he has enjoyed it.
