Beautiful pop-up book which includes the major London icons, plus moving parts such as ships and a manual, spinning London Eye. The London Bridge is well-done, as well as major buildings like Buckingham Palace. All the pop-ups are colorful and double-sided, meaning you can see pictures on the back side too. But I include a caveat that the book may not be "child-friendly." I bought this London pop-up because I loved Jennie Maizel's New York City pop-up book. But I was disappointed that on almost every page in the London pop-up book, there is a spooky, ghost story tucked into the page...the "mini-book" on each page is small in size, but definitely noticeable. The creepy facts was what got stuck in the head of my elementary school age child. Minus the spooky, ghost stories and illustrations, this book would have been wonderful.

While browsing through a bookstore (some still do exist), I ran across this wonderful book. When I teach "Romeo and Juliet", I bring in DK travel guides and other visually rich books to give my students a sense of the time and place when Shakespeare wrote. I saw "Pop-Up London" as a great resource for kids to get more interested in conveying this background information. Upon receiving "Pop-Up London" the other day, I was even more surprised at how well done this book actually is, not only on an artistic level (the pop-ups are visually stunning), but on an intellectual level as well. If one looks on the back of the pop-ups, there are inside views, descriptions of the buildings, interesting factoids. Other trivia and flaps also abound among the pages, so the Reader does feel like a tourist exploring, roaming, discovering this great city. Can't wait to share this book with my class! I know it will be a hit, and generate further inquiry for them.

'Pop-Up London' is an absolute joy to read, and engages the senses, being both enjoyable to look at with its beautiful graphics and pop-up constructions, and wonderful to page through and touch, making this a truly interactive experience. The book is full-sized, not quite coffee-table sized, but still large enough to enjoy in a purely tactile way, and to display for friends, family, and acquaintances, being a virtual tour of the 'highlights' of the city of London's most famous tourist attractions. For those who have visited London, it is a wonderful, quirky reminiscence, and awakens a yearning to return. For those who have always wanted to visit, it ignites the imagination and confirms their wonderlust. Highly recommended, and hope that there are more 'Pop-Up' city titles to explore.

Our entire family loves the Pop-Up London book! We vacationed their last year, so our kids were thrilled to have a such a cool book to remind them of all the wonderful places we visited. It's loaded with interesting facts throughout the book, making it both educational and entertaining.

This book was a huge hit with a friend who collects pop-up books, and also loves her trips to England. she just keeps raving about it!!

First grade class loves this! It also seems to be will built although all pop up books are prone to damage if not careful. It is quite accurate in my evaluation as we lived in London for some time and just moved back. After reading this and another children's book in my wife's first grade class the students checked out every England themed book at the school library.

More and better than I expected. The pop-ups are beautifully engineered and the information is abundant. Buy this. You won't regret it.

WOW! What fun! I've traveled to London twice and must admit I'd love to visit again! Until then, this pop-up book is the closest thing to it! Great for kids and for adults who are kids at heart. If you love London, it will make you smile! :D

I don’t read an awful lot of Christian books. Most of the popular ones seem to be focused on either apologetics or how one is to live properly within the Christian camp. This book by Church of England Bishop N.T. Wright is much different from the norm of what most readers are familiar. For starters, this guy is deep. This guy is well educated. This guy reminds you of one of those stuffy Oxford-like professors that’s very high in the ‘knowledge’ department, but doesn’t always speak simplistically enough for the layman. This is not a book that one can read over a weekend. Such characteristics can be seen as a drawback, but in most cases, I found his prose to be a welcome change of pace. If you’re a fan of someone such as C.S. Lewis, I would imagine you would be able to enjoy this author’s writing style as well. The subject of this book focuses on the misunderstanding that centers around many western churches when discussing the eternal destination of the Christian. According to Wright, the common misconception is that we will dwell in heaven forever. Instead, Wright argues, Heaven is only a temporary resting spot, and one day in the future, all Christians past and present will again live on the earth under Jesus’ reign. The main drawback for this book is that Wright seems to want to overly convince his readers of this fact. He states scripture after scripture, hymn after hymn, story after story, to prove his point. It’s a bit much. I think the reason that such confusion exists is because, for most people, the debate of “where” we will be is not that significant. Instead, most people when discussing eschatology are more concerned with “how”. As long as we’re in a place “like” heaven, we don’t seem to mind exactly where we’ll unpack our suitcase for eternity. As Wright makes his arguments, he seems more driven towards left-brain thinking than right-brained thinking. He doesn’t spend too much time talking about what this new world will be like and what everyone will experience. He assures us that even though we will all be working and have some sort of job in God’s kingdom, all souls will, in fact, relish the experience. When it comes to such matters that are somewhat mysterious, the author doesn’t claim to offer heavy handed explanations based on what he might feel. If he doesn’t know, he doesn’t know, and has no trouble at all stating this in the book. The big challenge that he gives Christians is that if we are to one day live in this world with Jesus as our king, we must take care of the world as it is now. We must “get it ready” for the glory of God. I think this is where his real struggle is with a lot of Western thinking. Too often, many Christians today have “End Times” syndrome. They’re so convinced that Jesus will rapture the saints at any moment, that they don’t seem to care about things such as acid rain or global warming. After all, this is only our temporary home, right? This is what the author is trying so hard to dispel. Being a Christian, he says, involves a lot of ‘doing’ in addition to ‘witnessing’.It’s quite interesting (although many would find it insulting) when the author finds faults in many practices that Western (particularly U.S.) churches engage in every Sunday. He’s not a fan of “check off the box” salvation, and he clearly doesn’t believe in such widely held beliefs as the rapture of the church. I’m not one with a degree in theology, so I can’t challenge him on such sentiments, but he seems think that as a body, Christians definitely need to be doing more both within their church and community, and within the world itself. He doesn’t spend very much time talking about “who gets to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven”. He states that he’s clearly not a Universalist (although he confesses that such a concept might not be completely foreign to God), and the main reason behind this thinking is the wickedness that some people possess. I confess I would have liked to have him expound on this a bit more. He makes references to such obvious atrocities such as Nazism and sexual slavery, but where exactly does he draw the line? Aren’t all evil without the blood of Jesus? Then, some of his “evils” that he describes didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. He quickly mentions “Hiroshima” for example. Hiroshima? What exactly is “evil” about this? I’m assuming he’s referring to the atom bomb, and yes, this was truly a very evil event, but who was ultimately responsible? Some would argue Harry Truman, but others would say it was the mayhems of Japan and their treatment of American POWs that actually caused the unfortunate event. So his failure to go into more depth left me a bit disappointed.I still felt this was an excellent book. If anything, it causes one to rethink and reevaluate such predispositions that many Christians have had, say, forever. Such debate is healthy, I believe. Although he doesn’t argue that one must “work” towards salvation (at least that wasn’t the impression that I got), he does plainly say that once one is saved, the converted heart should want to work for God’s glory – both in this life and the next.

Nicholas Thomas Wright (born 1948) is an Anglican bishop (Bishop of Durham from 2003-2010), and is currently Research Professor at St Mary's College in Scotland; he has written many other books such as The New Testament and the People of God Vol. 1,Jesus and the Victory of God Vol. 2,The Resurrection of the Son of God Vol. 3,Who Was Jesus?,The Original Jesus,The Contemporary Quest for Jesus, etc.He wrote in the Preface to this 2008 book, “At the first level, the book is obviously about death and about what can be said from a Christian perspective about what lies beyond it… I approach the question as a biblical theologian, drawing on other disciplines but hoping to supply what they usually lack with what I believe the church needs to recapture: the classic Christian answer to the question of death and beyond, which these days is not so much disbelieved … as simply now known… At the second level, then, the book is about the groundwork of practical and even political theology---of, that is, Christian reflection on the nature of the task we face as we seek to bring God’s kingdom to bear on the real and painful world in which we live.” (Pg. xi-xiii)In the first chapter, he outlines, “This book addresses two questions that have often been dealt with entirely separately but that, I passionately believe, belong tightly together. First, what is the ultimate Christian hope? Second, what hope is there for change, rescue, transformation, new possibilities within the world in the present? And the main answer can be put like this. As long as we see Christian hope in terms of ‘going to heaven,’ of a salvation that is essentially AWAY from this world, the two questions are bound to appear as unrelated… But if the Christian hope is for God’s new creation, for ‘new heavens and new earth,’ and if that hope has already come to life in Jesus of Nazareth, then there is every reason to join the two questions together. And if that is so, we find that answering the one is also answering the other.” (Pg. 5)He observes, “the robust Jewish and Christian doctrine of the resurrection… gives more value, not less, to the present world and to our present bodies… The classic Christian doctrine, therefore, is actually far more powerful and revolutionary than the Platonic one… A piety that sees death as the moment of ‘going home at last’ … has no quarrel with power-mongers who want to carve up the world to suit their own ends. Resurrection, by contrast, has always gone with a strong view of God’s justice and of God as the good creator. Those twin beliefs give rise not to a meek acquiescence to injustice in the world but to a robust determination to oppose it.” (Pg. 26-27)He points out, “much Christian and sub-Christian tradition has assumed that we all do indeed have souls that need saving and that the soul, if saved, will be the part of us that goes to heaven when we die. All this, however, finds minimal support in the New Testament, including the teaching of Jesus, where the word ‘soul’ … reflects not to a disembodied entity… but rather to what we would call the whole person or personality… the idea that every human possesses and immortal soul, which is the ‘real’ part of them, finds little support in the Bible.” (Pg. 28)He strongly rejects “the revisionist position on Jesus’s resurrection… that the earliest Christians believed that Jesus after his death had been exalted to heaven or that they had a strange sense that his mission… we now going ahead in a new way and that this kind of belief let them to say he’d been raised from the dead…We all can have visions. Plenty of people dream about recently dead friends… That doesn’t mean they’ve been raised from the dead… this [revisionist] solution isn’t just incredible, it’s impossible… A little bit of disciplined historical imagination is all it takes to blow away enormous piles of so-called historical criticism.” (Pg. 48-50)He observes, “the resurrection narratives in the gospels never, ever say anything like, ‘Jesus is raised, therefore we shall go to heaven when we die.’ … No. Insofar as the event is interpreted, Easter has a very this-worldly, present-age meaning: Jesus is raised, so he is the Messiah, and therefore he is the world’s true Lord… so we must act as his heralds, announcing his lordship to the entire world, making his kingdom come on earth as in heaven!” (Pg. 56) He concludes, “Jesus’s tomb really was empty… the disciples really did encounter him in ways that convinced them that he was not simply a ghost or hallucination.” (Pg. 58)He suggests that in 1 Corinthians 15, “Paul is clearly articulating a theology of a NEW CREATION. Every force, every authority in the whole cosmos, will be subjected to the Messiah, and finally death itself will give up its power… Death as we now know it is the last enemy, not a good part of the good creation; and therefore death must be defeated if the life-giving God is to be honored as the true lord of the world. When this has happened… Jesus the Messiah… will hand over the rule of the kingdom to his father, and God will be all in all.” (Pg. 99-100)He states, “The word ‘eschatology’ … doesn’t just refer to death, judgment, heaven and hell, as used to be thought… It also refers to the strongly held belief of … virtually all early Christians, that history was going somewhere under the guidance of God and that where it was going was toward God’s new world of justice, healing, and hope. The transition from the present world to the new one would be a matter not of the destruction of the present space-time universe but of its radical healing.” (Pg. 122)He argues, “People often assume that the early church used ‘parousia’ simply to mean ‘the second coming of Jesus’ and that by this even they all envisaged, in a quite literal fashion, the scenario of 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (Jesus coming down on a cloud and people flying upward to meet him). Neither of these assumptions is in fact correct… Now suppose that Paul…wanted to say two things… first, that the Jesus they worshipped was near in spirit but absent in body but that one day he would be present in body and that the whole world, themselves included, would know the sudden transforming power of that presence. A natural word to use for this would be ‘parousia.’ At the same time, supposed they wanted to say that the Jesus who had been raised from the dead … was the rightful Lord of the world… so the absent but ruling Lord of the world would one day appear and rule in person within this world… Again, the natural word to use for this would be ‘parousia.’” (Pg. 128-129)He asserts, “People who believe that Jesus is already Lord and that he will appear again as judge of the world are called equipped… to think and act quite differently in the world from those who don’t.” (Pg. 144)He notes, “My proposition is that the traditional picture of people going to either heaven or hell in a one-stage postmortem journey… represents a serious distortion and diminution of the Christian hope. Bodily resurrection is not just one odd bit of that hope. It is the element that gives shape and meaning to the rest of the story we tell about god’s ultimate purposes.” (Pg. 148) He adds, “Resurrection … was a way of talking about a new bodily life AFTER whatever state of existence one might enter immediately upon death. It was, in other words, life AFTER life after death.” (Pg. 151) Later, he reiterates, “The ultimate destination is (once more) NOT ‘going to heaven when you die’ but being bodily raised into the transformed, glorious likeness of Jesus Christ.” (Pg. 168)He contends, “The word ‘immortality’ is often used to mean ‘DISEMBODIED immortality,’ and it is sometimes used in a sharp contrast with resurrection. As a result, we easily forget Paul’s point about the resurrection body. It will be a body, but it will not be subject to mortality… There is a world of difference between this belief and a belief in an ‘immortal soul.’ … In the New Testament, however, immortality is something that only God possesses by nature and that he then shares, as a gift of grace rather than an innate possession, with his people.” (Pg. 160-161)He explains, “I do not believe in a purgatory as a place, a time, or a state… In fact, Paul makes it clear… that it’s the present life that is meant to function as a purgatory. The sufferings of the present time, not of some postmortem state, are the valley through which we have to pass in order to reach the glorious future… The myth of purgatory is an allegory, a projection from the present onto the future. This is why purgatory appeals to the imagination.” (Pg. 170-171) However, “Since both the departed saints and we ourselves are in Christ, we share with them in the ‘communion of saints.’ They are still our brothers and sisters in Christ… Why then should we not pray for and with them?” (Pg. 172)Of the final judgement, he says, “I find it quite impossible… to suppose that there will be no ultimate condemnation, no final loss, no human beings to whom, as C.S. Lewis put it, God will eventually say, ‘THY will be done.’ I wish it were otherwise…” (Pg. 180) He continues, “My suggestion is that it is possible for human beings so to continue down this road, so to refuse all whisperings of good news, all glimmers of the true light, all promptings to turn and go the other way… that after death they become at last, by their own effective choice, beings that ONCE WERE HUMAN BUT NOW ARE NOT, creatures that have ceased to bear the divine image at all. With the death of that body… they pass simultaneously not only beyond hope but beyond pity. There is no concentration camp … not torture chamber in the palace of delight. Those creatures that still exist in an ex-human state, no longer reflecting their maker in any meaningful sense, can no longer excite in themselves or others the natural sympathy some feel even for the hardened criminal.” (Pg. 182-183)He argues, “As long as we see salvation in terms of going to heaven when we die, the main work of the church is bound to be seen in terms of saving souls for that future. But when we see salvation… in terms of God’s promised new heavens and new earth and of our promised resurrection to share in that new and gloriously embodied reality… then the main work of the church here and now demands to be rethought in consequence.” (Pg. 196-197)The last part of the book goes into political implications. (E.g., “the major task that faces us in our generation… is that of the massive economic imbalance of the world”; pg. 216)Wright’s ruminations will be of keen interest to anyone studying such ‘eschatological’ matters.

Gorgeous photos, but there are better books (especially at this price), and this one is *heavy*. Definitely too heavy to throw in a backpack and carry around, and nothing unique in terms of planning or enjoying a trip to Paris. We brought it with us but won't be taking it home.

I have been using the National Geographic Traveler series for years and often found them very insightful, informative and of high production values. This latest edition of NG Traveler on Paris is another great addition to the series. This guide is of a good size for traveling, measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/4" x 5/8" and over 270 pages. Although it isn't a pocket sized book, it is still modest enough to be stowed in a backpack and ready for use on the location.I'm pleasantly surprised that the guide has some good information on the rich history and culture of Paris, covering the Paris today, the ancient and modern history as well as the arts (33 pages long in total). The guide divides Paris into 11 geographic regions for coverage, from the heart of the city to the outlying villages. Tourist attractions and hand-on experiences are presented and described in great details, along with color-coded maps, intricate illustrations and the typical NG-quality photographs. For instances, there is a good amount of tourist information on Notre-Dame including the history, architecture (portals, rose windows, etc), the treasures of the cathedral, the parvis and archaeological crypt. The Louvre is covered in 12 pages, much of which is dedicated to the collections - antiquities, paintings & drawings, sculpture, objects d'art, etc. Both also feature gorgeous photos and colored 3D illustrations of the cathedral and the museum floor plan. The guide has an interesting chapter on excursions - trips away from the hectic, urban Paris. Quite few places are covered, including Chateau de Versailles, Cathedrale St.-Denis, Provins, Chartres Cathedral, Giverny and more. Information on these excursions is rather brief though. It would generally give you a good idea of whether they are of interest to you and if so, you'll have to do your own research separately.Typical travel information such as transportation, hotels & restaurants, shopping and entertainment is adequately covered at the end of the guide. There is a bifold map of Paris in the front cover and another bifold of the Paris Metro transportation system in the back cover. These maps are pretty small to be useful though. No foldout map is included. As such, I would highly recommend getting a full size map prior to your trip or at the airport. All in all, this is an insightful and informative travel guide with useful materials on history & culture, tourist attractions, not-to-be-missed places, and pretty much everything you want to know about Paris as a tourist. It is well organized and fairy easy to use. I had been to Paris many years ago and I wish I had this guide with me. One of the best Paris travel guides that I have seen so far.

The book is beautiful, full of breathtaking photos of the local sights. It starts with the history of the area, with some cultural notes. The history is interesting, and it takes quite a big chunk of the book, and there are lot of historical notes given throughout the book. Then follow chapters on different areas to visit, with map of each and points of interest. There is specific info for each like where it is on the map, when it is open, if there any fees, and how to get there.

As with another reviewer, I received the London version of the book. Therefore, my comments will be limited in that regard. The National Geographic Traveler Series is simply a fantastic aid if you are traveling. In fact, I wish I had when I traveled Europe. The book is a good size. though not pocketable. It will easily fit in any day travel bag however (think Kavu, backpack, messenger, cross body, etc). The quality of the book construction is best described as rugged and it should hold up very well to significant travel abuse. The paper is heavy weight glossy and seems difficult to markup, though highlighters work well on the pages. The guide is written in an easy to read format that seems standard across the series. It is true that exact hours are not always provided for certain tourist destinations. However, this may be because may tourist sites have variable hours, something I ran into at many locations in Europe (though not the norm). The photos and illustrations are all top notch, what you would expect from National Geographic.Bottom line is that this book is a great asset when planning your overseas trip and when you get on the ground. We liked it so much that my wife is looking to order additional books for locations we are planning to visit.

They shipped me the National Geographic Traveler "London" instead of "Paris". So I'll make some general comments. This is a nice sized book, not too small and not too big. The quality is very nice (good glossy paper). Maps are always a challenge as they clearly wanted to keep them compact to fit in the book. The inside front cover map is a good basic map of typical "London". The back cover map is of the tube system and the print is very tiny and extremely hard to read. The maps inside the book of each individual area are very nice focused maps for that area. Some information is disappointingly lacking, for example some sites give hours of when they are open while others will simply say something like "open daily" (or in at least one case "see website for hours").At places in the book you'll be frustrated by sentences like "To find your way, consult Time Out." I don't know if "Time Out" is a website or a section in the book or what. "Time Out" is not listed in the table of contents nor the index. The index is fairly sparse and short.Overall I'd say this is an okay travel guide book.

Amazon.com Review

Gordon Grice, a young essayist from rural western Oklahoma, writes winningly of insects in all their glory, basing his narrative on lifelong observations of creatures such as the black widow, praying mantis, brown recluse--and the occasional human being. For the black widow spider he professes an affectionate fascination, dangerous though the spider may be; for the brown recluse, a more dangerous creature still, he exhibits a healthy respect; for all the creatures who fall under his survey, he has many sympathies. Grice writes with good humor, even when he's writing of matters that are not for the squeamish, as when he describes the rather gruesome ways in which female mantises dispose of inconvenient mates or humans dispose of each other.

From Publishers Weekly

Readers seeking evidence of "Nature red in tooth and claw" will find it in this first-rate popular science book. Grice, who teaches humanities and English at Seward County Community College, examines in feisty, felicitous prose the life and lore of some lesser predators?spiders, mantids, tarantulas, rattlesnakes, pigs and canids. He notes that the praying mantis is the only insect that can turn its head?the better for the female to decapitate her mate as they copulate. Grice attends a rattlesnake roundup, visits a pig factory and talks with wolf-dog breeders. He discusses similarities between pigs and humans, wolves and humans. He describes, in gruesome detail, the effects of spider and snake toxins on the human body. While not for the queasy, the book captures attention, and not least in its philosophic leaps. The bite of the black widow (red hourglass) spider, Grice explains, is lethal far beyond what is necessary to kill insects, its normal prey; it can slay mice, frogs, snakes, cats, dogs and humans. And so in that spider, Grice writes, "the analytical mind finds an irreducible mystery, a motiveless evil in nature." Copyright 1998 Reed Business Information, Inc.

This book came to my attention when someone on an online mailing list devoted to arachnids mentioned that she had started reading the book and found it upsetting, perhaps because she is "just too tender-hearted where arachnids are concerned."Even before reading the book, I found another warning, this one prominent on the dust jacket" I was originally disturbed by some of the killing he depicts, but his descriptions are so compelling that I had to read on." I think both aspects of this assessment are accurate."The Red Hourglass: Lives of the Predators" consists of seven sections, each dealing with a different predator. The list includes black widows, mantids (like the praying mantis), rattlesnakes, pigs, canids (wolves and dogs), tarantulas, and brown recluses.Grice writes with a curious mixture of someone who admires his subjects and someone who seems to enjoy pitting them against each other. He describes in great detail the act of killing, in particular the results of his own handiwork. He frequently puts insects or arachnids together just to see what will happen. (For example, he puts two tarantulas in a small enclosure not for breeding purposes but to see whether they are territorial. They are.) A great deal of the book consists of descriptions of such incidents, and when it comes to snakes and the mammalian subjects, those who love such animals might want to think twice before reading too much of those sections. I'm also not entirely sure whether the section on widows is all that helpful. (I live in widow country, can find as many as a dozen with a few minutes of searching, and have no fear of them since they keep to themselves and have never posed a threat, but I know that there is a great fear of widows.)At the same time, there is a great deal of information here, some of it fascinating (as in the descriptions of the effects of a widow bite, effects that I would much rather read about than experience) and some of it speculative as Grice waxes philosophical. Grice is, I think, an excellent writer, and so the book is worthwhile reading in general, though the section on tarantulas offers little that I, a relative neophyte to tarantulas, did not know.

Do yourself a favor and buy this book. If you like to read about the lives of strange critters, and appreciate fine prose and precise natural historical observation, you will enjoy this book immensely. The author also betrays a sophisticated understanding of both the science, and mystery, of life, which he nevertheless wears lightly. The down-to-earth spirit of Nebraska and Oklaholma also shines through the deceptively simple prose style. Finally, the book is devoid of any of the man and nature, circle of life, save the whale posing that mars so many nature books. This is true, backyard natural history, not politics. If you think you might like this book, you will.

I enjoyed the information and anecdotes on all the various predatory species!

This collection uses the scary, the monsters big or small, to peak into our humanity and show us things about ourselves. Cleverly written, the essays seem to come together with each successive passage. Grice has crafted a great and eerie read.

If you live in NJ it is a good read. The Author has some interesting things to discuss.

Interesting, I enjoyed this book very much. I especially appreciated the many pictures included. I would recommend this book for anyone curious about ships and shipwrecks.

All good.

good read

Having spent a lifetime researching New Jersey shipwrecks, and as President and Founder of the New Jersey Maritime Museum, I can't say enough about this well-written book and its relevance to New Jersey's rich maritime history. Capt. Nagiewicz has succeeded in accurately portraying a part of our history that has largely been ignored by historians. Sadly, our schools teach little about this subject; perhaps this book should be on the list of "required reading" in our schools.

Very interesting book of New Jersey's history. Well researched, I would diffidently recommend this book. However it wouldn't hurt to edit the book for grammar.

Awesome read, couldn't put it down, very riveting, loved the book and looking forward to more from the author, it got me reading others in the series, I'd strongly recommend it to anyone, it's a must read, keep them coming Mr. Nagiewicz, you're a great guy and a great author

There is no one else with remotely the knowledge and experience in diving the coast of New Jersey (and much of the Western World, for that matter), as Captain Steve, and he brings that experience and knowledge to the fore in this tremendous account of shipwrecks and even subway car wrecks (yes, you can dive on sunken subway cars off the coast of New Jersey). A terrific addition to every maritime history and archaeology library.

I don't often abandon a book before finishing, but this mind-numbing collection of useless information was too much to expect anyone to read. Let me share a few tidbits:"Know how much you're spending so you can look for ways to improve and systemize.""There are many excellent computer systems available that run everything from invoicing to bank account balances. Use them. They will save you time and money.""Stress is a fact of modern life, and so is competition."This book reads as if the author read three business books, jotted down the key ideas on individual index cards, then arranged the cards into the outline for this book. An author who has applied these ideas would do more than simply list them - especially those which appear to contradict each other.Save your money, and use it to buy a better business book.

Invaluable for anyone wanting to create equity in a small business - to take it from one where the owner handles everything, even with employees to implement tasks, to one that operates as a business or system. It is also valuable for consultants and coaches that help businesses do that. At some point a small business owners gets tired or bored with the mechanics and even producing the products of the business. Unless he or she takes the steps and time to put systems in place they will be hamstring by the business when it grows, and will not have develop an organization that has value or can be sold. This book identifies many valuable systems for a small business and can help the owner put them into place.

This book read like a student trying to turn a 2 page essay into 12 pages... Redundant, rambling, and filled with "filler." Then the entire last few sections of the book are basically an extended advertisement for the author's coaching services. This book was tacky and a waste of time, I recommend looking elsewhere.

Instant Systems is a solid addition to any small business owner's collection. As we say in the small business marketing world "Marketing is not a mystery, it is a system." Instant systems is an easy read with simple to follow advice for setting your small business onto the road to success.

A great book all aspiring millionaires should own.

Good item A++++++++

Instant is BS as far as I'm concerned

I expected to get some actual systems to use and was disappointed that there were just instructions on what to do in your business and not actual systems
