For me, it's hard to read anything about the Shroud of Turin and not be fascinated. The Shroud is by far the most scientifically and historically studied relic on the planet, and so far, 99 percent of the evidence suggests it is the authentic burial cloth of Christ. But rather than dwelling on the many proofs of the Shrouds authenticity, this novel explores the possibility of using the blood on the Shroud to clone a new Messiah. I won't give any spoilers with plot details, but I will say that the author did an amazing job crafting a thrilling, suspenseful novel with original, often quirky and downright funny characters that keep you turning the pages to find out more. I particularly liked the character arc (how the character changed) of arrogant atheist Dr. Bondurant and how he gradually softened to the prospect of a supernatural God. The end of the novel hints at another adventure with Dr. Bondurant concerning the Sudarium of Oviedo, which is another relic that has been—in my opinion—scientifically certified as the other cloth in the tomb of Christ mentioned in the Gospel of John. As a writer myself, I’ve toyed with the idea of writing a novel about the Sudarium. So far, I’ve only managed to make the Sudarium a secondary topic in one of my books. I’m eager to see what this author can conjure up in his imagination. I’ve signed up for his newsletter, so I’ll be one of the first to buy it when it comes out.
I bought this book after hearing a recommendation from Mark Levin. I could not put this book down. I don’t read a lot of fiction but this writer is especially gifted in character development and moving the story along to keep it exciting. I will be going back to purchase the first book.
Wow! Can’t say enough for this book. It’s the story of Christ’s shroud, from the standpoint of an atheist trying to prove it wrong. He goes through pain and suffering and a scary storyline, but I enjoyed every minute. These are written by the CEO of the Reagan Library and he is a compelling author. There are 2 books in the series, and this is the second. The first is equally excellent.
Great thriller. I couldn’t put it down as it was a page turner. I read both series 1 and 2 in 3 days, they were that good. I can’t wait for book 3 to come out.
Hard to put down - glad I read Shroud Conspiracy first, it set the stage so you knew what was happening from the get-go.
Thought the ending was not as powerful as it could have been
I felt like the author was rushed to end this book. After the first one, I couldn't wait for part 2 to come out, but it left me disappointed. I think the story went too slow in places and too fast in others.It's still a good book, but I feel like it could have been better.
Chapters and believability not connected enough and a bit simplistic. Would make for an interesting movie but not top notch.
