Copp has written a good solid book on a neglected subject. He has done and collected research that has largely not been done and come up with very different conclusions. My uncles were there and always said that the history books on D-Day and the Normandy invasion were misleading and biased, downplaying Canada's role. It seems they were right. Copp shreds the arguments of previous historians covering these events, proving that they hadn't done their homework. Terry Copp worked from the raw evidence, interviews with survivors and reading the Message Logs, and war diaries. His conclusions are provocative, but well backed up. Essentially he says that the Germans weren't superior soldiers compared to Canadians and British. He also says that the role of Canadians in Normandy has been downplayed or ignored while that of the US Army has been inflated. But don't take my word for it, read the book.
