This is a great supplement for the Alfred series. I always have my students start right in with the Theory book corresponding to the Lesson Book. It seems to solidify what we have talked about each week in lessons.

I have been a pianist for the last 25 years, and my 5 year old daughter decided she wanted to learn. We don't have any instructors in our city, so I decided I could teach her in the beginning. I remembered using the Alfred books when I began lessons, so I was happy to see they were still in print! I ordered the Alfred's Basic Piano Course Lesson Book, Theory, and Technic (Level 1). They are meant to go together.The books are well laid out and simple for a child to follow. My 5 year old is an early reader, and with me, she has no problem following these books. They are illustrated and the print is large.The books will let you know when to incorporate the lessons from the Theory and Technic books, as the lessons taught will coincide and help build on each other.In the beginning, your child will learn the basics on reading music, but for the first half of the books, a numbered finger system will be used in place of a traditional staff. This is to build your child's ability to use their separate fingers correctly.If you are using this as a parent to teach your own child, my only advice is to go slowly and patiently. Make sure that the child understands and is using the correct technic before moving ahead. It is a simple book, but speed is not key. This takes time and practice in order to build confidence.This is the perfect first lesson book.

I have been teaching private piano lessons for 15 years and I am delighted with the Alfred series. This book specifically has quite a few songs that the kids will recognize. It starts by introducing the dotted quarter not, which is often difficult for students. It ends with great coverage of the primary chords, I, IV, V7. I love the approach Alfred takes to introducing those chords, then using them so much for the accompaniment. At first the kids are always very confused by it, but by the end of the book, they recognize them easily in all their pieces and can name them without any trouble. Be aware that some of the supplements in the series are substantially harder than the corresponding lesson book.

The Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course book is the perfect addition for any new piano player. These basic piano teaching books are easy to follow, easy to read, and easy to teach. The pages are filled with a good use of white space. The book itself is made of good quality and I do not feel that they will easily deteriorate. I believe that these books by Alfred's Basic Piano Prep are the basic books for piano knowledge and a great place to start a beginner. I have already purchased other of the Alfred's Basic Piano Prep Course books and will continue to purchase from this publisher. I have also steered my student's toward purchasing their own sets of these books to help with practicing outside of the classroom setting. These books will definitely stay around in my teaching library for years to come!! I look forward to seeing what other prep books are written and how they supplement the current books!

I would call myself a beginner piano teacher, as I play the piano myself but have had no instruction as to how to teach others to play. I now have four beginner students, whom I have been teaching for a little over a year.I love the Alfred method. The four books: technic, lesson, solo/recital, and theory all seem to really work well together. The songs coordinate with each other, so for each new concept taught in the lesson books, the student has a warm-up, a solo piece, and some theory work to back it up. I find this to be very effective. It gives the students a chance to see several examples of each concept, and practice each new concept in different ways until they achieve perfection with it. It also really walks the teacher through each concept very clearly, giving definitions for musical terms and clear instructions for which songs go together. I feel like the order in which concepts are taught also makes a lot of sense.Overall, it's a good method for a teacher who doesn't know a whole lot about HOW to teach another person to play the piano!I currently have some of my students on this level, and others on the regular beginner levels. I love how all of the different levels are interchangeable, so gifted students can advance more quickly, and students who need a little extra reinforcement can stay on the lower levels. The map for how this all works is on the back of all of the books, which you can see on the book preview. So many great things about Alfred!

This product arrived within a few days of ordering. It was in pristine condition. I use this set of books because they are what my piano teacher prefers to teach from. Although the book says for later beginners, it should be a bit more specific. It is definitely not designed for adult learners (the songs are geared more toward children or adolescents). I do not mind so much, but others might. All in all a great buy. I recommend the seller. Delivered as promised and had a very accurate description of product. I am very pleased.

I have more than a full collection of Christmas piano books for my students. I have one young student who is currently in the Alfred B lesson book. It sticks mostly to the C position and does not introduce the Middle C position. I purchased this book specifically for her to have songs in her usual position. Turns out this book is completely in the Middle C position. I'll probably keep it because it has teacher duets, but I'd still recommend the Bastien Christmas books over this series. The layout is cleaner and the pictures are more enticing.

I learned more about my hormones reading this book. I think it is worth reading.Whilst this book does not go into great details as other hormone books I have read, it's a simple, uncomplicated introduction to the understanding of the sex hormones.

This is the 2nd book I have read by Dr John Lee concerning Estrogen Dominance and natural hormone replacements. The first was on Breast Cancer, Estrogen Dominance and Natural Progesterone Cream. I was so impressed with the 1st book that I wanted a 2nd more easy to read book to give to my daughter along with a jar of natural progesterone cream.Dr Lee has opened my eyes to the truth of women's health problems where most doctor's have failed. Estrogen dominance is a serious health concern for anyone living in our modern society. Petrochemicals from carpet, nail polish, plastic bottles and food containers, from lotions to shampoos, soaps, pesticides and birthcontrol pills are causing estrogen dominance. We are immersed in a sea of synthetic estrogens which are wreaking havoc on our bodies, our hormones and our minds. Breast cancer keeps on increasing, hysterectomies are a matter of routine, while prostrate enlargement effects 50% of men by 50 years old! Women experience menopause symptoms 10-15 years to early! Girls are entering puberty 4-6 years sooner than a century ago! Infertility is increasing and male sperm counts have dropped by 50% in the last 5 decades!! Something is seriously wrong, is a huge understatement!!!Please read everything you can to protect yourself and your family against the hidden and silent synthetic estrogens which are destroying and damaging the health of millions!! Diindolylmethane (DIM) supplements derived from brassica vegetables are one of the most potent supplements for detoxifying XENOESTROGENS which I use daily. So impressed I am with Dr Lee.s books that I have ordered two more and will write reviews on them as well.I also have been using the natural progesterone cream the last few weeks and have been sleeping much better along with the DIM supplements to remove excess estrogen. DIM may turn urine orange as the liver excretes excess estrogen. After 10 days of using both my energy levels dramatically increased! Experiment with progesterone to see what dose works best. This is THE book for people already using BHRT. I have been for years with several prescribers and no one could get it consistently right. This book explains the baseline dosages for all natural forms of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone CREAMS and WHY and how these amounts were reached.I have been prescribed, over the years, WAY too much estrogen and three days ago when I came back to earth thru this book, I began to feel much better by altering my doses. I measure now with tiny spoons, no more a dab of this or a squirt of that. The book is short and easy to follow and I even emailed the co-author with a question and was answered immediately.

This book is great for anyone in their 30's and 40's--before women go into menopause. Women are suffering from lack of energy and all sorts of problems and its largely due to some hormone imbalance. This book lets you know small steps that you can take to bring your balance together. I've used several suggestions from this book and my productivity has increased a thousand-fold. If you're 30 - 50, suffer from brain fog, or a lack of energy, check this book out BEFORE your primary care physician gives you a prescription for an anti-depressant!

Interesting book - but consider purchasing What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause if you are specifically looking for info about menopause. Most of the info on that topic contained in this book is covered in the other one. This book is more basic and isn't as in depth.

I have been through pellets and then torches and felt that it was too expensive and difficult. After some more research. I concluded that a simple low dose estradiol patch and progesterone cream (I had been taking oral progesterone) is the safest and most effective HRT. He helped me realize that estrogen is overrated and we typically think we need more than we really do. This is a much cheaper and simpler way to do hormones (my regular GYN prescribes the bioidentical patch). I a, next planning to get a saliva test. To date, I have only had a blood test.

This book is full of interesting information and is exactingly well researched. The author is intelligent and well above average both as a researcher and a writer. But, in general, any book that has the word Dictionary in the title, and is not searchable by word and definition is about as useful as a shovel without a handle.

I was a little iffy at first, seeing that this book had no reviews. But it turns out that this book is well written, with a good introduction to the world of Victorian Slang, and a great dictionary.

You really have to have a pretty decent handle on a little more than just basic Italian. I bought this one and another like it to help me continue with learning to speak Italian. I am beyond "Beginner" but not at all advanced. The book tells you which stories are easiest, on up to hardest to read, so you can start with the easy (they are not printed in that order in the book) and work your way up. When you get stumped on a sentence or a word, you can refer to the opposite page, and of course it repeats here and there throughout the story and/or the book so it helps to reinforce those new words or phrases as you go. I like it a lot, but you have to have "quiet" time where you can "focus" on your reading if you're using this as a learning tool.

I choose to give this 5-stars for several reasons:pros":* Great translation (for what can be given to translate Florentine dialectal Italian)* Great book for the eager Italian student to either continue studying more Italian or simply wanting more ITalian literature* This text covers great interesting novelle that are very entertaining (I recommend "The Decameron" for more)cons:* Although there is a clear-cut translation that allows the reader to follow line-by-line, there could have been a better translation* on a side note, it might be helpful to have an Italian-English dictionary at hand as there are some English words even I can understand.

As another reviewer said, this is a book for the serious student of Italian literature, but I found it to be overwhelming. Still, I could read the stories in the English version on the facing pages.

Very nicely done, with translation on the facing pages, and a glossary, but I'm afradi I was only able to get through the first two storeis- albeit with a lot of cross-reference to the translation. Still, very nicely done. Use it if you're Intermediate to skilled speaker.

I chose this book because I thought that it might help me with my Itlian language. It is easy to look up the translation when needed and it does help. The literature , however , is 18th century and it is ok but I was hoping for something more modern.

The stories are good, with excellent translations. One must get used to the fact that often Italian stories lack something that English readers look for. Sometimes they seem to leave one hanging with inadequate endings. But I liked the stories and the translations. I like dual language books very much.

very convenient and informative book for beginners and intermediate level-learners. Tells you the stories concerning Italian culture. And it is also very nice to have an English translation at the end in case you miss something.
