Second chance romance. I liked the characters. I liked the story. This was my first story by this author, but won't be my last.
The author has a great insight into human strengths and weaknesses. Love ion the part of teenagers can be true and lasting.
This was a fun story to read. I love a good second chance romance story. Glad I purchased this book.
When Marg was seventeen and Shawn was eighteen they were high school sweethearts but Shawn get a college scholarship to play football so he left town and never looked back leaving a pregnant Marg behind. Fast forward twenty five years he is now a billionaire and he returnes to see some old friends and looks Marg up. She is now a real estate agent so he ask to shown a house by her so she didn’t know who she was meeting until she gets to the out of town house. She is shocked to see him after all those years but the heavy thunderstorms keep them stranded in the house and now the roads are washed out. They spend a couple of nights in the vacant house and she knows she needs to tell him about his grown daughter Lauren and she will when the time is right. Once they get back to her apartment she plans to tell him but before she can he sees Lauren’s picture and instantly knows he has a daughter and is angry. This is a emotional sad story for everyone involved with some twists to complicate the story.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Billionaire Looks Back - I enjoy reading Ms. Logan's books. Clean, heartwarming and heartbreaking, this was a mesmerizing read. The storylines were interesting. All the important characters were well thought out, mature and believable. The secondary characters were developed just enough to play their roles. Chris was my favorite character, wonderful but sad, since he started this story rolling and I would liked to have seen an update about him at the end.With realistic dialog and actions, the emotions are pretty intense and ranging. The handling of all the events were rather mature and didn't follow the stupidity formula that many books copy nowadays. Ms. Logan always has a mature and levelheaded approach in her stories. I did get bored with her choice using "ghosting" repeatedly, I disagree with the usage when left or walked away are direct. Also there was a slipup of Shawn thinking Lauren and her mother hated him; hate was never mentioned but love was. I contacted the author to review her books and received this through Booksprout. 4*Holidays in Applewood Series: I really enjoyed these three short stories and look forward to more books by Ms. Logan. These sweet, clean books were well written with nice people full of caring and sharing. Perfect for reading during a coffee break or curled on the sofa with a cuppa and a pet.Dear Acquaintance #2 - A lovely, sweet and heartwarming short story. This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed this delightful story. Set on New Year's Eve, this is a well written, quickly read short with two interesting, older main characters and several supporting characters, all likable and real. There a chance of a second love for both and they're willing to try. 4*A Gentle Heart #3 - I enjoyed this story as much if not more than Dear Acquaintance. Lovely, heartwarming and filled with some very special main characters. There's even a character or two from Dear. All the characters are real and likable, especially his mother. There are three nasty characters of which one is a real piece of work. The journey through the pages keeps the reader immersed in the story, leaving a smile at the end of the last page. I'm sorry I don't have the first book of this series to read. 4*Star Spangled Second Chance #4 - Another good edition to this series. Eight years later the past returns to haunt best friends who never got to admit how much they loved each other by the time they graduated from high school. Now they have a second chance. The truth from the past surfaces, along with excess baggage that interferes with family and their chance. An interesting story with cameos by characters from the other stories. 4*
Shawn ghosted on 17 yo Marg Hahn twenty five years ago. He never looked back. He had his college scholarships and then a football career then a billionaire.When he’s 43, he goes back to meet his friends. Not Marg.He sets up a meeting with Marg and they get trapped.Marg had to be a single teen mom raising her daughter all alone. And then 25 years later Shawn gets mad at her when he was the one who ghosted on her (he didn’t use protection).I was disappointed in Shawn for being selfish and immature. He was 18, an adult and she was 17, not an adult.And he even thinks that she’s been punished enough.Both Marg and Lauren deserved better.I voluntarily reviewed this book.
The first chapter in this book just pulled me right into the story - so I have to compliment the author for that! This was a story about Shawn and Margie, who were a couple when they were 18 and 17. Fast forward 25 years and we can add Lauren, their daughter, to the mix. Poor choices and some bad decisions have colored the past for this small family of three. Good character development by the author and it was a fairly simpe, but enjoyable, storyline. A sweet, clean second chance romance that is a very easy read. I would recommend the book. I did receive an ARC copy of this book but this is my honest and voluntary review with my personal thoughts and opinions. Vicki from Wyoming
