I don't often abandon a book before finishing, but this mind-numbing collection of useless information was too much to expect anyone to read. Let me share a few tidbits:"Know how much you're spending so you can look for ways to improve and systemize.""There are many excellent computer systems available that run everything from invoicing to bank account balances. Use them. They will save you time and money.""Stress is a fact of modern life, and so is competition."This book reads as if the author read three business books, jotted down the key ideas on individual index cards, then arranged the cards into the outline for this book. An author who has applied these ideas would do more than simply list them - especially those which appear to contradict each other.Save your money, and use it to buy a better business book.

Invaluable for anyone wanting to create equity in a small business - to take it from one where the owner handles everything, even with employees to implement tasks, to one that operates as a business or system. I bought this for my 3 (going on 4) year old son to help provide a visual and concrete example of what germs are and how they work. He has asked me to read it to him multiple times and of all the germ books I bought, this one seems to have had the most impact. It does not focus a lot of how to prevent germs from spreading, but it does describe how easily they can be spread and how quickly they can travel. I have to admit I was a little disappointed in the fact that they don't spend time talking about germ prevention (covering your mouth, washing hands, etc.), but as one piece of the overall lesson I think that this book did its job. There are cartoon pictures of the germs which give them personality and make them seem like a very big problem. After reading this book (and a couple of others) he has definitely become more germ conscious. A good follow-up book may be The Berenstain Bears Come Clean for school which does talk quite a bit about washing hands and proper coughing methods.

My preschool students LOVED this story about germs on the attack. During a unit on staying healthy...this was the perfect read aloud that was informative, allowed for imagination, participation, and extension activities......all while being very entertained.

Our three year old loves this book. Great story to help him remember why it important to cover his mouth when he sneezes or coughs. Also, helps him to understand why he has a cold and needs to wash his hands.

Cute book, bought to do a little hand-washing education for preschool kids. It is engaging and fun, and has the main story and then small, more in depth information at the bottom of some pages. I did not read that part to the preschoolers, it was a little to advanced. But they enjoyed the story and learning about germs!

This one was great!. I read this to my elementary school and pre school kiddos, They really enjoyed it and it helped them understand the way germs are spread. highly recommended.

This book is awesome! I am doing a whole unit on health with my 1st graders, and one of the topics is, of course, hygiene. They loved it! They were thoroughly entertained, grossed out (which is good, in this case), and informed. The illustrations make this one of the coolest informational books I've ever seen for little kids. All of the kids were very engaged and fascinated. They begged me to read it to them again! So glad I bought this book.

good story and illustrations ... I got 3 of them to give as a gift to my daughter`s teachers. But the cover of ours is following apart after a couple of months but i would buy it again. I think it is very successful to give the message.

Great ! Biography

I love the book! It gave me a lot of insight as to how times were in the 40's and beyond for African American and Gospel group as a whole. Very stimulating read.

This is a very good book for those interested in learning more about this great gospel singing group. It was well written and entertaining.

Jerry Zolten, co-author of 'Speaking to an Audience' and writer for Living Blues magazine, has devoted his interest into the lives and music of The Dixie Hummingbirds. What would gospel be like today if not for the influence of singers like The Hummingbirds, Fairfield Four, Skylarks, Kings of Harmony, Radio Four, the Selahs among others? They brought to us the reality that gospel was poulated by every type of people you can name. All that travels the gospel road those that succeeded were the Dixie Hummingbirds for their spiritual qualities and their unique a-capella style. It was thier backbone and their success that kept them together until now. Before there was Rock-n-Roll there they were. They sang through history from the Depression, the World Wars, Korea and Vietnam and through the decades of changing pop culture. Now that perseverance and dedication rewarded them, this will be their 75th anniversary. They have their place in the American Music Hall of Fame.This is their story that began in 1920s Greenville, S.C. to their 1974 Grammy winning song 'Love Me Like a Rock.' Others made popular during their long career are, 'Christian's Automobile,' 'Have a Little Talk With Jesus,' 'Ezekiel Saw the Wheel,' 'Two Little Fishes & Five Loaves of Bread,' 'Let's Go Out to The Programs,' 'Savior Don't Pass Me By,' 'Devil Can't Harm a Praying Man,' 'I've Been Born Again,' and 'Wonderful to Be Alive' among a long line of memorable songs. James Davis and his friends began singing in a rural church. Their next 10 years would be jaunting from town to town, working radio stations, schools and churches. By 1939, the a-capella songbirds recorded their 4-part harmony spirituals on Decca. By 1942, they moved to Philadelphia and then New York with the Lester Young band they brought down the house each night at the Café Society. For there they catapulted into nationwide tours, major revord contracts, collaborating with Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon. And they're still going stronger as ever. There are interviews of the artists who worked with the Hummingbirds. The book brings out the vivid life that shaped the gospel singers and gospel music. In the words of Ira Tucker, Sr. at the anniversary roast, he said, "There have been a lot of people that have turned their backs on us. But you know what? The man upstairs sits high and looks low. That's who we have our faith and trust in, is God Almighty. I'd like to say this to you. It wasn't the money that kept the Hummingbirds out there." In conclusion"....Don't think that we are finished. Full disclosure: I have known the author for many years.This is wonderful book. Even though I know and admire the author, I would not lie about the book. If I didn't like it, I just wouldn't say anything. This is a wonderful book.The book is solid scholarship, and it is readable. How often do you see that? It reads like a compelling narrative, which it is, but it also has the complete discography of the Dixie Hummingbirds, and chronicles the racist times the men lived in and overcame. It is equal parts reference for American Studies and a fun read.Highly recommended!

Normally, Gordon Korman gets 5 stars hands down, but this one just wasn't as good as his others. It has its funny spots, but the main character is even more overkill, and a bit more annoying, than usual. I DO wish we could get the McDonald Hall series back in the US: THE best kids' (and adults' who'll admit liking them) books EVER!

My son loved this book and the librarian at his school recommended it.

This is a terrific book for anyone interested in the mind of the extreme explorer, or those interested in how our knowledge of the arctic developed. In the early twentieth century Ernest Leffingwell served as a scientist on several expeditions of the arctic (including one so badly managed it seems astonishing that they survived). He was one of the first to explore what is now the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and helped determine that there is no land at the north pole. The book includes excerpts from his journals and many illustrations, including color photographs by the author.
